Dual cultivation involves a delicate exchange of Yin and yang transferred between cultivation partners till the balance in both Dantian is constant. It is an effective cultivation method but depends on the cultivation level of both partners. Lan Wangji expected Wei Wuxian to take a few years to achieve a strong enough Golden core so that they may cultivate on an equal footing. What he did not make allowance for was that the return of Wei Wuxian's memories would allow him to cultivate at a far accelerated rate than what should have been possible for Ian Wei in his broken body.
Not only was he able to yield Suibian efficiently, but he could also use the laser swords as well as him if not better. Lan Zhan could no longer deny that physically and spiritually Ian was ready for dual cultivation. However, truth remained that they were yet to consummate their marriage. How could they, given his streak of injury?
They were currently in the yard behind their house where a courtyard had been set up for practice. They had a strict regimen which Ian religiously adhered to. It surprised Lan Zhan how disciplines Ian was compared to his previous self.
"Wei Ying, do not use resentment in the laser swords, it will amplify the resentment and that's not desirable," Lan Zhan warned.
"Don't worry, I have my own methods of using each," he claimed.
"What do you mean?" Lan Zhan asked in confusion. In the millennia that he used yin and yang cultivation it had always been a struggle for him to balance the two. Even after he had attained the silver core, he still felt the ill effects of resentment and had to cleanse himself with continuous meditation and periodic inedia.
"When I harnessed the resentment energy from the burial mounds, I realized that the resentment was not a passive energy form. It is a conscious energy source. If you try to imbibe the force of it without acknowledging the consciousness you are bound to be at a constant tug of war with it. It becomes a power dynamic that stands on a delicate balance. When I harnessed it, there was no balance to establish. Instead of power, all I had was a vacuum in my dantian and the resentment energy sought that as shelter, building a symbiotic relationship with my body via my soul energy. Even through my youth in this life I could tap into that symbiosis via the use of Chenqing. Hence I have had several fantastical experiences through my life," Ian explained.
"What kind of experience?" Lan Zhan asked.
"For instance, in my earliest youth, I went through a goth phase. I was highly drawn to concepts of the undead. My friend group would often arrange for visits to cemeteries and haunted houses. I have had the experience of drawing ghosts to myself and avoiding visitations altogether by altering the tunes I would play on my instrument. It is a fact acknowledged by most of my friends who knew me in my youth," Ian described.
"You did not have a golden core then. So the use of resentment energy should not be surprising. It is the same as before," Lan Zhan pointed out.
Ian shook his head. "No, Lan Zhan, it is not the same as before. Before I had a vacuum in my Dantian. But in my youth, I did not. The resentment energy was not stored in my Dantian at all. My empty Dantian served as a conduit for the resentment energy to occupy a vacuum in my soul, perhaps the vacuum created by my parents' treatment of me," Ian theorized.
"So you are saying that even in my cultivation of Yin energy, the energy never vied for a position in my Dantian but was content with occupying the vacuum in my heart left as a consequence of your absence. Then how do you explain that I can still use resentment now?" Lan Zhan countered.
"My presence does not negate the absence of my past, it only prevents the vacuum from expanding. All that time, past life and this life, when you missed me, that created an emptiness in your heart and that emptiness still remains. My presence now cannot negate that. Hence the resentment still finds a home in you," Ian explained.
Lan Zhan nodded. "No wonder that Wei Ying is the Grandmaster of Yin Cultivation. Your insights are far more rational than the millennia of cultivators who came after you," Lan Zhan praised.
"Aish, Lan Zhan, do you have to keep finding opportunities to praise me?" he demanded.
"If it makes my Wei Ying blush then of course. I like my Wei Ying blushing, skin flushed, blood pumping, ears turning red and feeling warm," Lan Zhan described.
"And you are putting a different kind of picture in my head right now, one that doesn't suit Lan-er-gonzi at all," Ian argued.
"Ian, do you want to start dual cultivation? We have long since consummated the marriage" Lan Zhan suddenly asked.
Ian coughed out at the sudden question. "Do you have to be so direct about it?" Ian asked.
Lan Zhan looked down. "I don't want to force you. Dual cultivation is more than sex. But if you're not ready I will wait," he relented, turning away.
"Wait, Lan Zhan, Lan Zhan, don't go. Let's talk. My injury has been healed. In legal terms we are both married, and you are cited as my guardian. You're also more knowledgeable than me. I hate to admit but I don't know what dual cultivation is," Ian confessed .
"What are you saying, Wei Ying? You have your memories, don't you?" Lan Wangji asked, with worry.
"Even in my last life dual cultivation was not something I considered possible. I didn't have a cultivation partner," Ian reminded.
"Dual Cultivation involves experiencing the depths of pleasure and pain together. It's taking our physical experiences to such an intensity that we start disassociating from our bodies to be able to process it. It will be sex on a normal day times ten, along with an active exchange of our core energies till they attain equilibrium," Lan Zhan explained.
"I am ready," Ian said after some thought.
"Are you sure?" Lan Zhan asked.
"Do you want it?" Ian asked.
"I have waited for this for longer than you can imagine," Lan Zhan assured.
"Then what's holding you back?" Ian asked.
Lan Wangji looked longingly at his partner without replying. His eyes said it all.
Ian took careful steps towards Lan Wangji and stood before him and placed his lips on his husband's. In that moment Lan Zhan allowed his instincts to take over. His hand cupped the back of Ian's head as he deepened the kiss and allowed his spiritual energy to flow with his breath scanning, healing, cleansing his Wei Ying. He had waited long enough, and his Wei Ying was finally ready to fully accept him.
Lan Zhan guided Ian to the inner room where he pushed him down on the living room sofa. Ian fell so that his legs were hanging out, butts raised and back resting on the seats. Lan Zhan pinned both of his hand over Ian's head as his other hand roamed Ian's body under the sweatshirt he wore.
"I'm covered in sweat," Ian complained.
"Even if you were not, it would be a matter of time," Lan Zhan warned. Then as an afterthought he asked, "Are you healed?"
"You're the doctor," Ian challenged. "Why don't you give me a thorough check-up?"
"Are you really sure, Ian?" Lan Zhan asked, using his English name for effect.
Ian blinked and then looked away. He slowly nodded to let Lan Zhan know that he has thought it through. "Make me yours Hanguangjun. Not just emotionally, physically or legally but this time spiritually. You have waited enough," he offered.
A/N Hello Lovelies, I am back. I know that it has been a long wait. Consequently, it has been a longer wait for Hanguangjun. The next chapter is going to be NSFW. If you are uncomfortable you can skip. I'll be posting regularly on this story from now on, so please stay tuned and do vote and comment.
I don't have a concrete plan for this story. So, suggestions are also welcome. I'll end the story when Wei Ying reaches immortality or Hanguangjun loses his. I don't want to separate them. Again, I am not decided on which path to follow.
Also, I am still not sure about who is the main villain of the story, Mo Yuan, Samantha or a resurrected Xue Yang. The last one is still a theory I have not yet introduced into the story. So a lot of things can happen but I am not sure what will happen. So help me keep you entertained.
