January 31st, Byron Bay.
Taylor's POV.

Last nights encounter with Alex was.... Well weird. I couldn't shake off the feeling of guilt for parting with her for that long.
This morning, I avoided eye contact with Alex at breakfast. Dad tried to lighting the mood, but the tension was palpable .
School wasn't any different, I ignored Alex for the whole day.
Sophie, my mate waited for me by the lockers. Her vibrant pink hair and bright smile, looked stunning. I'll admit I was envious of her genuine smile.
"Hey, Tay!, Ready for Art class?" Sophie asked.
That was the last class of the day, and I had to face Alex.
I nodded, walking towards class.
In art class, Alex and I were assigned a joint project creating a mural representing our personal struggles. I tried to protest but our teacher, Ms. Bailey, approached.
"Girls, I expect great things from things from you. Your Mum was an incredibly great artist"
Alex's eyes welled up. I looked away, unsure how to comfort her.
As the project started I got frustrated for some reason. Every suggestion Alex made, I rejected.
"This is point less", I snapped, slamming my pencil on the table.
Alex threw up her hands. " You're not even trying! "
Ms. Bailey intervened, reminding us to work together.
Class whizzes by at the great snail speed with me staring at an empty canvas. By the time it's over I'm literally out the door.
I trudged through the schools gates, feeling like absolute rubbish. The tension between Alex and me was thicker than a bloody brick. We used to be as thick as thieves, but now? Forget it.
"What's wrong, Tay" My mate, Sophie asked noticing my crap mood.
"Alex being a bloody pain, as per"
I replied rolling my eyes. Sophie nodded sympathetically.
"You guys will work it out, you're twins for crying out loud!"
"Yeah, whatever. Ready to go?"
"Yup, time to go home"

I always loved long walks back home, watching the waves as I did. That was part of me as I grew up.
Sophie was long gone, advising me to be the bigger person and work it out with Alex. And of course, I wasn't gonna do that. Alex, was still at school trying to gain extra credits. I scoffed "Nerd" I muttered.
With my headphones on I played (Lay me down - Sam Smith). And slowly walked home.
Music is my sanctuary.
