February 1st, Byron Bay.

Taylor's fingers hovered over the piano keys, hesitant to play. The music room, once her sanctuary, now felt suffocating. She couldn't shake off the feeling of her Mum's smile, radiant as she listened to Taylor's performances. The ache in her chest, threatened to overwhelm her.
As she began to play, the melody faltered. Notes clashed, discordant and jarring. Taylor's frustration boiled over, and she slammed her hands onto the keys, silencing the music.
"Why can't I do this anymore?" She whispered, tears streaming down her face.
Meanwhile, Alex sat in her art studio, surrounded by half-finished canvases and sketches. She mixed colours seeking the perfect shade to capture the essence of her sister's pain. Her latest piece, 'Shattered harmony', reflected Taylor's turmoil.
As Alex worked Sophie texted her:

Alex's curiosity piqued. Could Lucas be the catalyst to bring Taylor back from her emotional darkness?
Her mobile buzzed again with an incoming text from Sophie. Breaking her train of thoughts:

Alex's curiosity grew. She wondered Lucas could help Taylor.
At 3pm, Alex arrived at the Beach café, finding Sophie sitting next to the open window with a magnificent view of the clashing waves. She was sipping on a latte.
"G'day Soph! What's this about Lucas?" Alex asked sitting down facing Sophie.
Sophie leaned in her pink hair brushing her face.
"Lucas is a music enthusiast. He's been helping his Uncle sort through old records and music sheets. I think he could connect with Taylor through music"
Alex's eyes widened, and realisation hit her.
"That sounds perfect!, But what's his story?"
Sophie's smile faded, hesitant "Lucas' family has a complicated history. His Mum passed away around the same time as yours. He's been struggling to cope.
Alex's heart went out to Lucas. She understood the pain of losing a loved one, a mother specifically.
" Let's introduce them" Alex blurted
"Wait... Really?" Sophie asked her eyes wide, eyebrows raised.
"Yeah, I reckon they would make a great pair"
"Fair dinkum".

                                  February 2nd, Byron Bay.

Taylor's gaze drifted out the window, her mind numb. The sound of the waves crashing against the shore echoed turbulent emotions.
Suddenly, Sophie burst into the room.
" Taylor, I want you to meet someone " Taylor turned, her eyes narrowing "Who's this?"
Sophie smiled mischievously "Lucas. He's... Different."
Taylor raised an eyebrow as Lucas entered his piercing grey eyes sparkled with an otherworldly intensity, framed by messy, curly brown hair. His style was eccentric -a fusion of vintage and modern.
"Hey", Lucas said softly, his voice like a gentle breeze.
As their eyes met, Taylor felt an inexplicable jolt, as if their attitudes and energies were aligned. Her eyes shifted from the strange boy to the dill she calls a friend.
" Sophie, can we have a chat?"
"Yeah, sure"
"Privately" She said as her teeth clenched, eyeing the boy suspiciously.
"I'll leave you to it" Lucas said deeply, as he left closing the door.
"What's going on, Tay?"
"What's going on?, Seriously Soph?"
"You bring a random bloke here and act as if it's nothing!"
"Taylor, he isn't like the others, as I said he's different"
"Please Taylor, at least give it a go and see what happens. Who knows you might develop a keen interest in him"
Taylor thought about it. Sophie was the only person she couldn't say no to, the only friend who actually understood her.
"Ugh, fine. I'll give it go"
"Yess! Thank you. Trust me Lucas is a great guy"
"Yeah, whatever"
