Gautami lay in the hospital bed, staring at the ceiling. The dim lights in the room cast long shadows and the rhythmic beeping of the heart monitor seemed to echo louder in the stillness of the night.

She had been feeling better after the doctor's reassurances that it was just a minor issue. Still, the sterile environment made it hard to relax. She sighed, turning her head to look at the other bed.

There he was Abhyudaya, fast asleep on the narrow hospital bed next to hers. He had been with her since morning, refusing to leave her side for even a moment. She admired his face, peaceful and gentle in sleep. He looked exhausted, yet his presence was comforting.

Gautami shifted in her bed but no matter how much she tossed and turned, she could not sleep. She was so used to sleeping in Abhyudaya's arms, feeling his warmth close to her. Tonight felt so empty without him holding her.

She sat up and swung her legs over the edge of the bed, eyes still on him. Without thinking twice, she grabbed the thin hospital blanket and quietly walked over to him. The slight creak of the floor made him stir, but he did not wake up until she gently lay down beside him.

Abhyudaya blinked in surprise, feeling her next to him. "Gautami?" His voice was groggy with sleep. "What are you doing? You should be resting in your bed."

She shook her head, snuggling closer to him under the blanket. "I cannot sleep without you," she whispered, her breath warm against his neck.

He chuckled softly, though concern lingered in his eyes. "I think you will be more comfortable over there."

"I am comfortable here. You are my comfort place," she murmured, wrapping her arms around him. "Just stay like this."

Abhyudaya sighed but his smile returned as he pulled her closer, gently yet securely wrapping his arms around her. "You are impossible, you know that?"

"Mhm," Gautami mumbled, already feeling the comfort of his embrace lulling her to sleep. "But I know you love me anyway I am."

He pressed a kiss on her forehead. "Always." He closed his eyes, the soft rhythm of her breathing slowly syncing with his.

The room fell silent once more but this time, with a warmth that neither of them could find anywhere else but in each other's arms.

The End

This was a short one. Much shorter one but I promise the others will ne longer and much better, trust me.

I did not have much idea to make this oneshot longer so I kept it as it is. Please do not mind. And yes, thank you for reading if you have made it this far. Thank you once again🤍

See you all soon with a new and hopefully better oneshot😅
