I tossed and turned on my bed. It's the night before the "first" day of school! But I don't have any friends right now. Lucky Rowan. I stare at the ceiling, my stomach in knots, thinking of worse case scenario. I looked to my right, which I knew the second book of Harry Potter were there. I grabbed the book and started reading. The clock read 11:15 pm.

Beep, Beep, Beep. I moaned and stuck my arm out to stop the clock.  June went fast too quickly.  I somehow manged to get myself out of bed and started walking. I navigated myself to the upstairs bathroom, next to Rowan's room. I heard pounding and before I knew it, Mom was there.

"I'm surprised you manged to haul yourself up here, especially waking up by yourself. Sleepy-head."

Same old mom. I want to at least want to make good impression so no one bullies me. After doing basic things such as going to use the restroom and brushing my teeth, I began to think about my hairstyle. Braids- no it would make me seem childish. A simple ponytail could work.

I grabbed a yellow tie and turned my hair into a ponytail. I started changing into my favorite outfits-a blue shirt with a field of flowers with blue jeans.I went out of the bathroom and Mom was making me something.

"There's chocolate pancakes the table."

Mom looked at me and smiled.

I smiled back.

"I remember you entering on your first day of kindergarten. Time flies."

I began eating the chocolate pancake. I grabbed the TV remote and began watching reruns of Invader Zim. It was my favorite show even though it's only one year old. I wonder what's happening back in Chicago. Could Heather be in class now? Is she talking to a new girl? She only emailed me once though out the 2 week period. Oh wait maybe her middle doesn't do that. I should Google What time zone is in Chicago" sometime because I forgot. Why did we have to move here?

"Come on honey, you've being staring at that wall of five minutes, we have get in the car." Mom interrupted.

"Ok, Ok,"

"Besides, I just found out your school mascot is a hawk! How cool is that? It's your favorite animal after all."

She wasn't helping.

"'Homesick?'"

I nodded.
"It's alright, besides you can call Heather after your first day! You can tell her about the friend you make, and-"

Make a friend. You know what? This can be my goal, my own goal. Something I have to do, or else I wouldn't survive middle school.

"Cool?"

"Cool," I smiled back.

I grabbed my bird-designed backpack and my also bird-designed lunchbox and began heading outside. This is it. I'm in middle school.
