The office hummed with its usual energy, but Yoonji felt isolated in her turmoil. After the confrontation with Jungkook, she had hoped for a breakthrough, but instead, the distance between them had only grown. Determined to understand the source of his anger, she confided in her colleague, Minji, during a coffee break.

"Minji, can I ask you something?" Yoonji began, her voice low as they stepped away from the others. "Why do you think Jungkook is acting like this? He's been so... distant."

Minji's expression shifted to one of concern. "I've noticed it too. Have you heard about Soojin's return?"

Yoonji nodded, her stomach twisting. "Yeah, he mentioned her."

"Word around the office is that she's been saying some pretty nasty things," Minji continued, glancing around to ensure they wouldn't be overheard. "She's telling people that Jungkook's not capable of handling a relationship right now, especially not with someone like you. She's trying to get under his skin."

"What do you mean?" Yoonji asked, her heart racing.

"Apparently, she made him doubt himself after they broke up, and now that she's back, he's falling into old patterns. He might think he's protecting you by pushing you away, but it's really just her shadow looming over him," Minji explained, concern etched in her features.

Yoonji felt a mix of anger and sadness at the thought of Soojin's manipulation. "That's so unfair. He shouldn't let her control his feelings like that."

"I know," Minji said, her tone sympathetic. "But you need to show him that you're not afraid of his past. If you want to get through to him, you might need to confront this head-on."

A plan began to form in Yoonji's mind. "You're right. I can't just let this go. I need to show him the truth about how I feel and that I'm not intimidated by Soojin."

"What do you have in mind?" Minji asked, intrigued.

"I'm going to go to his house tonight. I'll tell him everything—how I feel, and that I won't let Soojin dictate our relationship. I'll bring proof that I'm committed to him, no matter what she says," Yoonji said, determination fueling her words.

Minji raised an eyebrow. "Evidence? What do you mean?"

"I'll show him the text messages and moments we've shared. I want him to see that I'm not just someone he can push away because of his ex. I need him to understand that I care," Yoonji explained, her resolve growing stronger.

"Just be careful," Minji cautioned. "He's still angry, and you don't want to push him further."

Yoonji nodded, her mind set. "I'll approach it carefully. But I can't let him stay in this dark place because of Soojin."

As the workday came to an end, Yoonji gathered her things, her heart pounding with anticipation and nerves. She spent the afternoon collecting evidence of their connection—pictures from the party, texts that showcased their bond, and even the moments they shared in the office.

That evening, as she made her way to Jungkook's apartment, her stomach twisted with anxiety. What if he pushed her away again? But she reminded herself that she had to try. She wouldn't let his ex's words define their future.

Arriving at his building, Yoonji took a deep breath before knocking on the door. Moments later, Jungkook opened it, his expression unreadable.

"What are you doing here?" he asked, a mix of surprise and annoyance crossing his face.

"I need to talk to you," she replied, her voice steady despite the flutter of nerves in her chest. "It's important."

Jungkook hesitated but stepped aside, allowing her to enter. The air in the room was thick with unspoken tension. "What's so important that you had to come here?"

Yoonji took a deep breath, gathering her thoughts. "I know you're upset, and I understand that Soojin is back. But I can't let her dictate how we feel about each other. I care about you, Jungkook, and I want to be a part of your life."

He crossed his arms, skepticism clear in his gaze. "You think you can just walk in here and say that?"

"I brought evidence," Yoonji said, pulling out her phone and scrolling through their messages. "Look at what we've shared. This isn't just some fling for me. I want you to see that."

She showed him the photos and texts, each one a reminder of their connection. Jungkook's expression shifted from annoyance to surprise as he scanned through the moments they had shared.

"Yoonji..." he started, but she pressed on.

"And you can't let Soojin's words cloud your judgment. She's trying to manipulate you, and you can't let her win," she implored, her voice filled with emotion. "You deserve to be happy, and I want to help you find that happiness."

As the weight of her words hung in the air, Yoonji watched Jungkook's defenses begin to crack. She stepped closer, her heart racing. "Please, let me in. Don't push me away because of her."

For a moment, silence enveloped them, tension still lingering but shifting. Jungkook's expression was conflicted, torn between lingering anger and the undeniable connection they shared.

"Yoonji, I don't know if I can just forget what she's said..." he finally admitted, his voice quieter, uncertainty creeping in.

"You don't have to forget, but you need to acknowledge what we have," she urged, determination shining in her eyes. "You can't let her shadow over your life. I'm here, willing to fight for us."

In that moment, Yoonji hoped that her words would pierce through the walls he had built around himself, and that he would finally see the truth she had laid bare.
