Hana awoke to the soft murmur of voices and the clinking of dishes from the kitchen. A sense of unfamiliarity lingered as she sat up, momentarily disoriented in the new space. The pale light of a Seoul morning streamed through her curtains, and she took a deep breath, letting reality settle in—her brother's apartment in a foreign country, surrounded by six guys she barely knew.Yesterday had been a whirlwind, from landing at Incheon to being introduced to her new housemates. The night had ended with a simple dinner and more chaotic banter between the roommates, making her feel both welcome and out of place at the same time. She hadn't had much of a chance to really connect with any of them yet, but she was hopeful that things would start to feel more natural.
Hana slipped out of bed and quickly got dressed, deciding to face the day head-on. As she entered the kitchen, the first thing she noticed was Jungwon, already dressed in a spotless white shirt, his hair perfectly styled despite the early hour.
"Good morning," he said, glancing up from the sink where he was washing some dishes. His voice was calm and measured, a contrast to the chaos she'd come to expect in the apartment.
"Morning," Hana replied, offering a tentative smile. "You're up early."
Jungwon shrugged, a faint smile tugging at the corner of his lips. "Someone has to clean up after these guys. I've kind of taken on that role."
Hana chuckled softly. "Jay always said you were the responsible one."
"Well, someone has to be," he said with a light laugh, wiping his hands on a dish towel. "How are you settling in?"
"I think I'm getting there," Hana said, sitting down at the kitchen table. "It's... a lot to adjust to. But you guys have been really welcoming."
Jungwon nodded, his gaze softening. "It's a full house, but we've made it work. And trust me, you'll get used to the chaos. In fact, you'll probably start to like it."
Hana wasn't so sure about that, but she appreciated his optimism. There was something reassuring about Jungwon—he seemed dependable, the type of person who made you feel safe without even trying. She could see why the others trusted him to keep everything together.
Just then, Sunghoon wandered into the kitchen, still rubbing the sleep from his eyes. He gave Hana a small, sleepy wave before pouring himself a cup of coffee.
"Morning," he muttered, his voice still hoarse from sleep. He sat across from her, cradling his mug in both hands as if it were his lifeline.
Hana smiled, unsure how to engage the quiet boy. "Rough night?" she asked softly.
Sunghoon's lips quirked up in a faint smile. "Nah, I'm just not a morning person." He took a long sip of his coffee before glancing over at her. "How are you feeling? I know it's a lot to take in, being here with all of us."
"I'm okay," Hana said, surprised at his thoughtfulness. "It's definitely different from what I'm used to, but I'm excited to be here. And Seoul is beautiful from what I've seen so far."
Sunghoon nodded, looking thoughtful. "It is. There's a lot to do here. If you ever want to explore, I can show you some cool places."
Hana blinked, slightly taken aback by his offer. He didn't seem like the type to open up easily, but there was a genuine warmth behind his words. "I'd like that," she replied, her smile growing. "Thanks, Sunghoon."
Jungwon watched the interaction with quiet amusement but said nothing, returning to his task. Hana's mind wandered as the three of them sat in comfortable silence, broken only by the sounds of the others waking up and moving about the apartment.
