Hana's fingers tightened around the handle of her carry-on bag as she stepped into the arrivals terminal at Incheon Airport. The buzz of travelers and the hum of airport announcements swirled around her, but her thoughts were elsewhere. She hadn't seen her brother Jay in over a year. Texts, video calls, and the occasional phone conversation had kept them close, but there was something surreal about actually being here—in Korea. Her excitement mixed with nerves as she scanned the crowd for his familiar face."Hana!"
Jay's voice cut through the noise, and Hana turned to see him waving with an exaggerated grin. Her anxiety ebbed away as she hurried toward him, laughing as he pulled her into a tight hug.
"Welcome to Seoul, little sis," he said, ruffling her hair the way he used to when they were kids.
She swatted his hand away, rolling her eyes. "Still with the hair thing?"
"Always," Jay replied with a smirk. "It's my job as your older brother to remind you I'm in charge."
They both laughed as they headed toward the exit. The night air outside the airport was crisp, and the city lights flickered in the distance. Hana felt a thrill run through her—she was really here.
"So, how does it feel to be in Korea?" Jay asked as they loaded her luggage into the back of his car.
"Exciting. Weird. Amazing. All of the above," Hana admitted, sliding into the passenger seat. "It still hasn't sunk in that I'm actually doing this."
Jay chuckled, pulling out of the airport and onto the highway. "You'll settle in soon enough. It's been forever since we've seen each other, and now you get to experience my new life here."
Hana nodded, glancing out the window as they sped through the bustling streets. Neon signs flashed by, casting colorful reflections on the windows. The city felt alive, vibrant in a way that both energized and overwhelmed her.
But the excitement she felt at seeing her brother again was also tinged with uncertainty. She hadn't lived with Jay since she was in high school, and that was when it had just been the two of them. Now, she'd be staying with him and six other guys she'd never met. The thought made her stomach knot.
"I've been meaning to ask," Hana said, breaking the comfortable silence, "what are your roommates like? I mean, seven people in one place is... a lot."
Jay glanced at her, grinning. "They're great. You don't have to worry about anything. Jungwon's basically the mom of the group—he keeps everything running smoothly. Sunghoon's pretty quiet, but he'll warm up to you. Jake's a total goofball—kind of like me, so you'll get along. Sunoo's all energy, always making people laugh. Niki's the youngest, but don't let that fool you, he's a handful. And Heesung—well, he's pretty laid-back, but also the most talented guy I know. You'll be fine, Hana."
Hana tried to imagine living with seven guys, each with their own personalities and quirks. It sounded... chaotic. But the way Jay described them, it also seemed kind of fun. She hoped she wouldn't feel too out of place.
