Chapter 5: Soccer balls and Karma

Today was my first official week of sharing a dorm room with Lucas — and, surprisingly, it wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be.

Our class schedules are different, so we hardly bump into each other, and if on the low chance we do, we just give each other a glare and look the other way.

It helps that he plays soccer with his friends in his freetime - so that keeps him occupied, and gives me a chance to rest freely in the dorm.

And luckily, I haven't heard any banging or girls coming in and out. So at least he's doing his business elsewhere, so have I.

Right now — I'm just mindlessly secretly scrolling on my phone, trying to survive this boring ass lecture. I can't do it anymore — Mrs Maxfield drains the life out of me.

She's so boring — College is so boring.

And even worse, I literally know nobody in this class. Apart from the people I've hooked up with, but do they really count? I don't think so.

Then finally — The bell rings.

Yay!

I quickly get my things, packing my books they totally have notes in them, and get ready to sprint the hell outta there.

"Zara! Stay behind."

I hear a voice — No, a specific, annoying voice. Mrs Maxfield.

I let out a huff - reluctantly dropping my bag back down on the chair, and turning my head to her — giving a sarcastic smile.

"Yes?"

I tried to sound as polite as I could, but there was no hiding the annoyance in my voice.

"Come here, please."

She waved me over with her finger, I sigh and walk over.

"Yeah, miss? Did I do something?"

"It's what you didn't do. I have eyes, you don't think I saw you on your phone? Because I did."

Of course, that's what this was about. The phone. It's not even a big deal, everyone does it.

"I only went on my phone like, once, miss."

"Once? Try the whole lesson. You can't fool me."

I rolled my eyes — there was no getting past this woman.

"Fine, yeah. I was on my phone, but it's not even that serious."

"Can I see your notes?"

Shit.

"Miss, there's no need for that."

"Exactly."

She shook her head, frowning.

"You're not getting away with it, not this time."
