Chapter 4: Late alarms and Dorm Drama
My phone buzzed - I groaned as I rolled myself over to the bedside table, grabbing my phone to retrieve it. I sighed, blinking a few times to adjust to the brightness of my screen.
Once I focused on it, my eyes widened at the message - sent from my bestfriend, Tilly.
- 'Girl, where are you? Professor Lawrence is totally failing you rn!'
I gasped and immediately sat up, dropping my phone next to me.
"Shit!"
I shout out loud — I totally forgot to set my alarm last night!
I had an important assignment due for my psychology course — Professor Lawrence was supposed to take it in today.
Normally, we do them online — but I thought it'd be less of a hassle to do it on paper. He said it was fine, but shit. I'm starting to rethink my life choices.
I quickly got out of my new bed, rushing over to my new closet. I opened it and grabbed the first things I could find - there was no time for fashion today!
I then stuck on some shoes and boots, grabbing my phone and handbag, swinging it around my shoulder then leaving my room.
I looked around the dorm — No sign of Lucas, he must gave already left, to do whatever he does. Classes, or girls. Dunno.
~~~
I had made it — 10 minutes later, to my class. But everyone was already leaving, I sighed in frustration and kicked a nearby bin, this was not good for my grades!
"Zara!"
I heard a familiar voice shout, I looked over and saw my bestfriend - Tilly , running over to me with a pitiful, yet disappointed expression.
She quickly hugged me then broke it, glaring
"The hell where you!?"
"Well.. I slept in late. I forgot to set an alarm."
I sighed, embarrassed with myself as I scratched the back of my head. Tilly, frowned and rolled her eyes.
"Jeez, girl.. I had to cover your ass back there."
My eyes brightened as I raised an eyebrow.
"Cover me? Like how? Did he let me off?"
"I told him you were sick, tonsillitis. - so you weren't coming. He totally believed it, but only cus you did it on paper. And how are you gonna bring it in if it's on paper? You can't submit it like you can online."
I grinned, she returned my grin with her own as we clasped hands and just as I was, I can imagine she was also mischievously internally laughing
"This is why you're my bestfriend."
I said , letting out a content sigh. I freaked for nothing.
"No duh,"
Tilly gave me a cheeky wink, which I giggled at. Soon enough - we were linking arms and walking down the hallway.
