Hi guys... welcome to my very first review on a series...

And to start this off, I'm going to be starting with one of my favorite tv shows... Avatar the last Airbender.

Avatar the last Airbender is a tv series created by the famous kids channel we all know as nickelodeon. It was crafted from the great minds of Michael Dante Dimartino and Bryan Konietzko. The show aired from February 2005 to July 2008...and it became a worldwide sensation. I mean, how could it not have been.

The show is about an air nomad who was meant to be the next Avatar.. but at a young boy,he was overwhelmed with the responsibility and he ran away. But unfortunately as he was on the run,he came in contact with a ravaging sea and got trapped in an iceberg for 100years. He then gets released by an untrained waterbender<someone who can control> and her warrior brother....and the story goes on and one.

Now..time for the actual review.

First,I love how the series pleased both adults and kids. It wasn't one of those goofy cartoons where the characters could explode and still somehow live,or pluck their eyes out..or like SpongeBob where you could light a fire under the sea. Avatar the last Airbender was realistic... tackling themes of real life.

And let's not forget about the world building...I mean Michael and Dante did a very good job with this series. The bending, the culture, the dialogue, the creatures and so many other things.

So, recently, Netflix decided to make a live action series. And quite frankly, they did a good job unlike the first live action movie we got...ugh😭.

While they still were a bit able to retain the truths of the series...they were still some things they did wrong...first thing was katara! Who was played by the beautiful Kiawentiio.

At first,I was a bit skeptic about her cause of her skin color. I'm not racist, but it gets annoying when some white people go all racist cause they switch a characters color to black.

So, here's what they did wrong with katara.... Portraying her emotions. Katara in the live action was a bit emotionless unlike In the animated. They kinda took out that fierce, mother loving nature from her and replaced it with a gloomy and a bit dull character. Don't get me wrong,I do love her,she is my favorite character in the original and live action...but the changes they made to her were a little drastic. But I do like what they did with costume. It was very detailed and spectacular.

Another thing that stood out to me was that we never got to see her struggle. In the original cartoon,we could see how she struggled before she could fully master her bending...but in the live action...all it took was one talk with Aang and boom...she was good. It all happened too fast...and I'm a bit sad she and Aang didn't even have that much chemistry in the show unlike the original.

But overall,I feel Netflix tried their best in trying to portray the katara we know and love. But I hope they give her more emotion and a dialogue other than when I was little,my mom died! I feel like most of the time, this was talked about too much in the show... although the original also did the same thing..but they had more dialogue. So, because of the love I have for katara... I'd rate this character a 7 out of 10..

....to be continued.
