Months passed. All was good, but there were barriers, there were changes. The emotional distance between them started to take its toll. Seungmin's quiet nature, which had once drawn Hyunjin in, now felt like a barrier. No matter how much time they spent together, Seungmin never fully opened up.

Hyunjin wanted to understand Seungmin, what exactly he liked, what enraged him, what kept him awake. No matter how hard Hyunjin tried, he couldn't make Seungmin put his guard down.

After another dinner filled with the pretence to be okay, Hyunjin finally snapped.

"I feel like I'm the only one trying," Hyunjin said, his voice breaking. "You never let me in. I don't know how to love someone who keeps shutting me out."

Seungmin looked down, his camera resting on the table between them like a shield. "I'm not good at this," he murmured, his voice barely audible. "I told you that."

"That's not an excuse," Hyunjin replied, frustrated. "You can't just hide behind your camera and expect me to be okay with it. I feel like I'm losing you. I can't keep pretending that everything is okay when it's not."

For a long moment, Seungmin didn't say anything. When he finally spoke, his words were soft but heavy. "Maybe we're better off apart. I'm not trying to hurt you but holding on is only causing us more pain. Maybe some time apart will help us figure things out."

Hyunjin's heart shattered at those words. He had hoped for anything but this. "Are you saying we should break up?"

Seungmin's eyes glistened with tears as he nodded slowly.

He felt a wave of despair wash over him, a sense of loss that he couldn't comprehend. "Seungmin... please don't do this. I don't want to lose you," he choked out, tears streaming down his face. "I love you."

"I love you too," Seungmin said, his own tears spilling over. "But we both need to grow, and I don't think we can do that together right now."

This was his final decision. His tone said it.

"Okay," Hyunjin finally whispered, his voice barely audible. "If this is what you really want..."

Seungmin reached out, taking Hyunjin's hand in his, their fingers intertwining one last time. "I'll always cherish our memories. You'll always be a part of me."

Seungmin unlocked their fingers and stepped back. Hyunjin just wanted to grab him, pull him close, hold him tightly and never let go. But he couldn't do anything. He watched Seungmin turn, get his clothes, go to the door. He looked back once, they locked eyes, and he was going..going..gone.

The click of the door pulled Hyunjin back into reality. Seungmin had truly left him. Hyunjin collapsed onto the couch. He felt utterly alone. He heard something crack. It was probably his heart.
