Author's Note:
Sorry for the late upload guys... Hopfully this chapter is good. I'm not that experienced in writing combat, so hope you like it. Feel free to give me any pieces of advice! Let's begin chapter 10 then!
(End of author's note)
'We've arrived.' I looked at him. 'Are you ready?' He asked while giving me a glare. It seemed to me that he got into his battle mode, and so did I. 'I'm always ready.' I smiled as I took my sword out.
'Mercury Magic: Silver Rain!'
Immediately, Nozel opened his grimoire and used a spell to hit me.
'Weapon Creation Magic: Holy Shield!'
Since I needed defensive magic for this blow, I casted my defensive spell which I use most of the time. As I casted it, a glowing round silver shield appeared as I held it on top of my head and charged towards him.
'Weapon Creation Magic: Endless Spears!'
A dark purple portal appeared as endless spears shot through towards Nozel's direction.
'Mercury Magic: Silver Spears!'
Instantly, he created many silver spears and hit them towards mine in order to slow them down as well as attacking me. However, the dark purple portal - the origin of where my spears came from - was not closed, so more spears came through before they were stopped by Nozel's. Realising there were more than he thought, he immediately created mercury shields surrounding himself for protection.
'Weapon Creation Magic: Whip of Destruction!'
As I swung it to his shields, they instantly shattered and turned into dust. Amazed, he said, 'It seems like I've underestimated you. This fighting technique... It doesn't seem very... Commoner-like.' 'Oh? Is that so?' I chuckled. He's very close to finding out now, I better stop the fight somehow... Should I use a strong spell and defeat him? Or should I let him win? He saw that I hesitated to use the next spell, so he stopped. 'Are you hesitating when you said you wanted a duel?' He looked at me. 'Uh...' I uttered.
Although I really wanted a duel, I didn't want him to find out my secret. Besides, I couldn't say: 'You are close to finding out my secret so I decided to stop, Mr Royal', could I? So what should I do? I didn't look physically tired nor running out of mana, which means that I couldn't lie, so what should I tell him? All I've uttered so far was 'uh'...
All of a sudden, I got an idea: If I used my grimoire to cast my spells, then he'll notice my mana and things like that, so what if? What if I don't use spells to fight, but instead, my sword? That was it! Using my sword would be the best choice! Close combat it is then.
Cling! Swiftly, I took my sword from my sheath out and sprang towards him. Everytime I used my sword, I felt immense energy coming from inside of me, this was why I could move so quickly and smoothly, it was all thanks to the sword and my sister.
Nozel quickly summoned silver spears to hit me while maintaining the mercury shields he made to block my attack. However, they were futile... Although I didn't possess anti-magic, my sword could cut through most types of magic, even spatial magic sometimes. Therefore, I could easily destroy the mercury shields and strike him down before he could recreate his shields again from my speed.
My sister once said, that hesitation could lead to losing in a battle. And that was completely true, if someone was indecisive about, for example, when to use a certain battle-strategy, they kept thinking and thinking of when's the best time, but eventually, they lost their perfect opportunity.
Realising that I was not hesitating anymore, Nozel hopped on his silver eagle and was shooting arrows from above. It seemed he realised that I was excelling in a close battle, so he went into the sky. Perhaps he wanted to know if I was also good at fighting in distances; perhaps he simply wanted to show off his royalty captain skills... That, was something I couldn't find out as he was emotionless sometimes, kind of like me though...
