On the next day, we had breakfast. I asked Diana if it was okay for me to sit next to her, and she said yes! 'Hello, you must be our new member. I'm Mimosa.' A girl with orange hair smiled as she introduced herself and the others on the table, 'This is Yuno, and the other person with glasses on is Klaus.' 'I believe Captain Vangeance would like to see you after your breakfast.' Klaus informed me as he lifted his glasses. 'Thanks.' I replied.
Knock-knock. I gently knocked on the door of the captain's office. 'Come in.' A voice said. Slowly, I opened the door and walked inside. 'Did you call for me, Captain?' I asked. 'Yes, it's about time for you to have your first mission.' My captain was going to assign me on a mission! That seemed exciting! 'You'll go to fight and arrest the bandits who would be in Anomea Village. You will go there as soon as possible. Diana will be going with you. Good luck.' He said. 'Right. I won't let you down.' I saluted as I left the room.
As soon as I left the room, Diana waved at me and asked, 'Ready for your first mission?' 'Yeah.' I nodded. Excitingly, Diana and I took off to Anomea village.
While Diana and I were flying on our brooms, we planned what we would be doing when we got there. 'So, I was thinking, since we don't know when the bandits will come, maybe we should stay in the village until they attack, then we strike back! Bandits usually attack at night, which means we most likely will need to stay up late. What do you think of my plan?' Diana suggested. 'Fine by me.' I agreed. 'Hopefully the bandits won't know we're here. Oh! I just realised we've arrived!' Diana smiled as she walked down from her broom.
As we entered the city, we found a citizen and asked him about the bandits. Miserably, he answered, 'We have been suffering from the bandits for quite a long time... They usually attack at night at random times, mostly at midnight. However, our village is relatively small, so sadly we can't really defend ourselves. Hopefully there will be some magic knights helping us soon...' 'Alright, thanks for the information, we'll see what we can do, thanks.' Diana tried to reassure the villager without saying that we are magic knights. I fully understand why Diana didn't say that, it's because if we reveal our identities, then word might spread and the bandits might change their plan of action, which might alter our plan as well.
(Time skip to the evening of the same day)
We ate a small dinner in the evening as most of the village storage food was robbed. Soon, we went to our inn and sat there until we could hear or sense the bandits coming. At 00:40, we were practically asleep in the inn as it was quite late.
All of a sudden, I sensed something coming. It woke me up. Completely. Nudging Diana, I said, 'The bandits are coming, I can sense them.' 'Wha... ?' Diana said, still half-asleep. 'Wait, how can you sense them?' 'You see, I can sense people coming through their mana emitting from their bodies even if it's far away, it's one of my special skills. It seems there are quite a lot of people approaching.' I spoke quietly, hoping no one would notice. 'Okay! Let's go then and finish them off, shall we? ' Diana looked at me as she opened the door.
Sensing people from their mana from a long distance is quite a common ability in the era I was born in, so it's not really a difficult task for me.
Soon enough, the bandits approached towards the inn and their leader stepped forward. In a loud and clear voice, he shouted, 'Give all of your money and food to us! If you resist, we won't hesitate to strike back!' I looked at Diana, she nodded.
Cling! I lifted the sword from my sheath a little. 'So you decide to strike back, huh? Well, since you are a weak village, you'll definitely lose! Ha!' The leader laughed.
'What a shame.' I said. 'Huh?' One of the bandits said. They still didn't know we were magic knights, they jumped straight into us without realising who we were... 'What a shame really.' I repeated, shaking my head slightly.
'Butterfly Creation Magic: Uncontrollable wings!' Diana yelled. This spell could create butterfly wings from an opponent's back and make them fly uncontrollably, so they would not be able to aim properly. Seeing this opportunity to strike, I used an offensive spell which I used all the time: 'Weapon Creation Magic: Endless Spears!' A portal appeared, endless silver spears shot through from there and injured many of the bandits. I didn't want to kill them as killing was not an order I received, so I simply injured them. Falling from the sky and onto the ground hard, the bandits were defeated without the chance of fighting back. 'Weapon Binding Magic: Binding Chains.' Grey chains appeared and wrapped around the bandits, making them unable to move.
They were defeated quite easily. I wonder are those the full powers of the bandits nowadays. If that's the case, then they are not that strong. However I can't come to a conclusion of the strength of the people nowadays yet, there's still so much to be seen and learned.
Cheering, the villagers were jumping up and down, celebrating the defeat of the bandits.
We caught the bandits and went back to the Golden Dawn headquarters in order to give our report to our captain.
(Back at the Golden Dawn's base 7:45 am)
Knock-knock. Diana knocked on the door of our captain's office. 'Come in.' As I went in, I saw him struggling to do some of the paperwork, it seemed that there was a difficult situation on his hands, so I glanced at the papers (not in a rude way) while Diana explained what happened at Anomea village. I knew that he was struggling because my sister used to do the same with her paperworks as well, it always took her hours and hours just to finish three piles. Well, at least she did it in quite an effective way. Captain Vangeance seemed to be very troubled by it, I could tell from his facial expression. It kind of looked like my sister's, I thought. After listening to Diana's explanation of how it went, he was amazed by the strength of my magic, he also said, 'Priana, it seems that your magic powers are quite strong, I might send you on more difficult missions later, but for now, have a rest.' 'Thank you captain.' I saluted.
'Oh, by the way, may I suggest something to you...?' I asked as Diana left the room. 'Go on.' He looked at me. 'I am sorry that I looked at your work, but what you can do in this situation is to (the suggestion). You may consider that into this if you like my idea.' I suggested. He seemed to have thought about it for a moment and he said, 'Thank you for that, but how did you know what to do?' Whoops... Now he has raised suspicion and interest in me even more... Doesn't matter, I will be glad if that actually works. 'My sister used to do paperworks as well, she sometimes talked to me about it, she shared something similar before, she came up with this idea before and I simply suggested it to you.' I replied. 'I see, thank you for your suggestion, it might work in this case.' He smiled at me, slightly. I saluted again then I left the room. I was glad that he didn't ask anything else about my sister, I didn't want to tell him that my sister was a Wizard King, as words spread so easily anywhere.
After the report to the captain, I then went back to my room to take a rest.
My captain said something about me doing more difficult missions, I wonder what missions would that be? Perhaps dungeons? But they're not that hard for me... I've conquered one with my sister when I was ten anyway. That was super exciting! If I really get to conquer one, it will be fantastic news!
