one. study buddies

reyna woke up for school later than usual because she stayed up later than wanted studying for her math quiz.

since she stayed up so late, she had to spend less time on her appearance. which didn't bug her that much. even when she did spend time on her appearance no one ever paid any attention to her.

today, she threw her shoulder length blonde hair into a ponytail to hid the frizziness. she brushed her teeth and changed into a loose black skirt with tights underneath it and a solid burgundy sweater.

before she left, she put on her usual black converse and decided to throw on her reading glasses. although she didn't typically wear them, she liked to on her lazy days.

and with that, she made her way out the door to walk to her bus stop. she looked to her left and saw one of her many neighbors, lisa loud in her driveway waving and motioning her to come over.

this had become an everyday thing since lisa started school since she looked up to reyna a lot. plus, reyna did not mind the girls company.

reyna made her way over to the loud's driveway where the eleven kids stood. "hey lisa!" she greeted in her slightly higher pitched voice she used with most kids.

"hi reyna! how was your weekend?" lisa asked.

"it was alright. how was yours?" reyna asked back.

"it was awesome! i finally finished my robot and i just need to find a new name for it. unfortunately, the name i wanted was taken by someone else." lisa explained.

"well, i'm sure you'll think of something great!" reyna encouraged the younger one who smiled while lincoln walked over to reyna and his little sister.

"hey reyna." he greeted.

"hi lincoln." she greeted back.

"do you need a ride to school? i could ask my parents to tale you along with us. i'm sure they won't mind." he offered but reyna nodded her head in the no direction.

"no, i'm good thanks. i actually have to go to my bus stop before i miss it." reyna explained and lincoln nodded.

after that, she waved goodbye to the loud's and the few that were paying attention waved back as she made her way to the bus stop.

"dude, you and her are never happening." lynn told him just like she did every time he talked to or about her.

"a man can dream." he spoke.

"i'm pretty sure she's a lesbian, linc. i've seen her at our lgbtq+ clubs a bit too much." luna told him and their parents began to walk out to vanzilla.

"are you guys talking about reyna thorne again?" clyde questioned after quickly running to vanzilla so he didn't miss his ride to school.

"yeah apparently she's a lesbian." lincoln recapped.

"she looks it." clyde commented.

"how can someone look lesbian?" lynn asked.

"just the vibe i assume." clyde guessed and lynn nodded, pretending to understand but really didn't.

lunchtime came and reyna sat by herself at her usual table in the corner that no one ever sat at. she didn't set by herself because she didn't have friends.

she had some people she talked to and considered her friends she just preferred to he alone during lunch. it gave her time to finish up on homework, listen to music, and drown at the noise.

which usually was easy for her to do. but today, it was wasn't as easy when lynn loud decided to throw a foot ball across the cafeteria and it landed right in the middle of reyna's face.

lynn quickly ran over to get the football. reyna was just going to leave it be but changed her mind last second.

"watch where you throw the ball next time, loud." reyna spoke up and lynn moved closer, setting in front of her.

"i'm sorry, what was that, thorne?" lynn questioned.

"you know you heard me now go on with your day." reyna replied and lynn threw her hands up in a form of mock surrender.

"did i strike a nerve?" lynn asked and reyna threw her headphones off and began to stand up. her and lynn moved closer to each other until they were separated by a teacher named mrs beck

"yeah, okay that's enough. both of you, principals office with me now." mrs beck spoke and they both rolled their eyes before following.

the three made it there and mrs beck explained the situation. lynn and reyna ended up getting let off with a warning since they didn't have an actual fight.

"can i burrow you guys at the end of the day by chance?" mrs beck asked and the two girls agreed before walking back to lunch.

it was now the end of the day and reyna accidentally bumped into lynn on the way to mrs beck's class. "oh. i'm sorry." reyna apologized.

"save it, thorne." lynn scoffed.

"okay then." reyna furrowed a brow before opening the door to talk to mrs beck.

once they walked in, lynn leaned on the side of her teachers desk, and reyna stood in front of it waiting for mrs. beck to speak.

"so on the papers you both filled out for your high school experience, i noticed something." mrs beck spoke then made a small pause before continuing.

"lynn, you don't have good enough grades to move forward. and reyna, you need to be a part of any sport to go to your dream high school." she told them.

"i don't get what you're picking up with that." lynn said what reyna was afraid to admit.

"lynn, you're really good with sports and reyna, you're really good with classes. so, why don't you help each other out? like study buddies!" mrs. beck explained and the two girls looked at each other with a shrug.

"i don't know about that, mrs beck." reyna said and lynn nodded with agreement.

"well, i know you guys had your differences at lunch today and it seems like you're holding onto that but why don't you put that aside for now so you both can get what you want?" mrs beck suggested.

reyna and lynn both looked at eachother before speaking "fine." they said at the same time.

"awesome! glad i could help you two. have a good rest of your day!" mrs. beck spoke right before the bell rang and lynn and reyna began walking out.

they were in silence until they got outside and lynn spoke. "saturdays i'll teach you basketball. sundays, you'll help me with my classes. good with you?"

"yeah that's fine." reyna answered and lynn nodded before the two went their separate ways. lynn to vanzilla and reyna to her bus stop.
