Phelan joined up with Tina and Newt as they took to the chaotic New York streets once more to find Jacob Kowalski, the Muggle that Newt had let get away with his case full of magical creatures.
Tina: I can't believe you didn't obliviate that man. If there's an inquiry, I'm finished.
Newt: Why would you be finished? I'm the one that's-
Tina: I'm not supposed to go near the Second Salemers.
Phelan: Second Salemers?
Tina: No-majs that are against magic.
Phelan: No-whats?
Newt: Muggles.
Phelan: Oh, why didn't you just say so? Second Salemers. Oh, I get it, they're the second-coming of the Salem Witch Trials.
Tina: Exactly, which is why MACUSA doesn't want me going near them.
Phelan: Are you sure it's not got anything to do with you being a former Auror?
Before Tina had a chance to answer, a Billywig flew beside them.
Tina: What was that?
Newt: Uh, moth, I think. Big moth.
Phelan: You're an awful liar, Newt.
Up the street was the cacophony of a panicked crowd. The three turned the corner to see that one of the apartment blocks had been demolished almost entirely. They approached the crowd to try and catch any idea of what might have caused it.
Policeman: Hey! Quiet down! I'm trying to get a statement.
Woman: I'm telling you, it's a gas explosion again. I ain't taking the kids up there until it's safe.
Policeman: Hey, sorry, ma'am. There ain't no smell of gas.
Man: It weren't gas, Officer. I seen it. It was a gigantic, huge hippopoto-
Newt slyly waved his wand at the man using a Confundus Charm on him as he passed by.
Man: -gas. Gas. It was gas!
With that, the entire crowd erupted in agreement about this. Newt slipped by to walk into the apartment. Phelan left Tina's side to follow him in. They entered the apartment which seemed to be the epicentre of the destruction only to see Jacob unconscious on the floor. It was then that Tina's voice emanated from the bottom of the stairs.
Tina: Mr. Scamander!
Phelan: Right, you check the case, I'll repair the building.
Phelan took out his wand and pointed it at the damaged wall.
Phelan: Repairo.
The materials that had been splayed across the ground then rose up and returned to their undamaged state as the spell fixed the building. Newt then checked inside of the case to see what was missing. Once they were both done, Tina entered.
Tina: It was open?
Newt: Just a smidge.
Tina: That crazy Niffler thing is on the loose again?
Newt: Uh, might be.
Tina: Then look for it. Look!
Tina then went to check on Jacob.
Tina: His neck's bleeding. He's hurt.
Phelan: They do that sometimes... I think. I didn't take Muggle Studies.
Tina: Wake up. Mr. no-maj.
A murtlap came out of hiding and jumped at Tina, however Newt managed to grab it before it could reach her.
