Jay felt a cold chill run down his spine as the girl's smile tightened. Her eyes flicked to Sunghoon briefly before settling on Jay, full of some unspoken resentment. He didn't know her well, but he knew enough. Rumor had it she had a thing for Sunghoon for months, and she wasn't exactly the forgiving type when it came to competition.

"Don't get too fucking comfortable, Jay," she said with a smirk before disappearing back into the house, leaving a tense silence behind her.

Jay swallowed hard, turning to Sunghoon. "Who was that?"

Sunghoon looked away, his jaw clenched. "Just someone from class."

The uneasiness stayed with Jay for the rest of the night, even as the party went on and people laughed and danced around him. He couldn't shake the feeling that something had shifted between him, Sunghoon, and her.

---

The next day at school, Jay walked through the crowded hallways, the usual buzz of chatter and footsteps filling the air. He hadn't slept much, thoughts of the night before spinning endlessly in his mind. He spotted Sunghoon by his locker, surrounded by a few friends. As always, Sunghoon looked effortlessly cool, his expression unreadable.

Jay was about to head over when he felt a hand grip his shoulder, stopping him in his tracks. He turned around and came face to face with her.

"Jay," she said, her voice deceptively sweet but her eyes flashing with something much darker. "We need to talk."

Jay hesitated, but there was something in her tone that told him he couldn't just brush this off. "Uh, sure... what's up?"

She stepped closer, her voice lowering so only he could hear. "I know what you're fat ass is trying to do," she hissed, her eyes narrowing.

Jay blinked, confused. "What are you fucking talking about?"

"Sunghoon," she said, the name practically venomous on her tongue. "You think your bitchy ass can just swoop in and get close to him after last night? You should've stayed away, like I told you to."

Jay felt his pulse quicken. "Wait, what? I'm not—"

She cut him off, her voice sharp. "He doesn't fucking belong with someone like you. Sunghoon and I... we've had something for a while, and I'm not about to let your ass ruin that."

Jay felt a mix of emotions—anger, confusion, and, strangely, guilt. He hadn't done anything, but her words made him feel like he had. "Look, whatever's going on between you and Sunghoon, that's none of my business. I'm not trying to come between you two."

She scoffed, crossing her arms. "You really think he'd be interested in you? Trust me, you don't stand any fucking chance."

Her words stung more than he cared to admit. Jay tried to stay calm, but the accusation hung heavy between them. He glanced over at Sunghoon, who hadn't noticed the conversation happening just a few feet away.

"I don't know what you think happened last night," Jay said, keeping his voice steady, "but Sunghoon makes his own choices. If he wants to be around me, that's not something your ass can control."

The girl's eyes flashed with anger, but before she could say anything else, Sunghoon finally noticed them, his gaze shifting between the two of them with a frown. He started walking over.

"What's going on?" Sunghoon asked, his tone calm but with a hint of suspicion.

Jay felt the tension rise as the girl quickly plastered on a smile. "Oh, nothing. Just catching up with Jay." She shot Jay a warning look before turning her attention back to Sunghoon, her tone shifting to something softer, more playful. "I was just telling him how much fun last night was."
