Blood. There was so much blood everywhere, yet the woman wouldn't budge - no matter how much Aki had insisted.

Was she mentally unstable? He couldn't tell, but he was beginning to get annoyed.

"Ma'am, I'll tell you this for the last time."
He sighed, hoping he hadn't sounded too harsh. At the end of the day, it was his job to protect and save.

"What you're shielding there is a fiend. It has to die."
He pointed out, for what had felt like the umpteenth time, and yet he only received the same reaction.

"No."
The woman choked, her eyes brimming with fresh tears.

"No, no, no, no."
She repeated, aggressively shaking her head, causing Aki to almost snap, but he had somehow managed to keep himself calm.

His eyes trailed towards the fiend; was it somehow controlling the woman to protect it? It didn't seem that way when all it was doing was staring blankly into space.

Aki was sure it wouldn't even realise him going for the kill, and he would've loved to take such an opportunity if it wasn't for the woman practically begging and sobbing on her knees.

Sighing quietly, he knew he really couldn't bring himself to wait any longer.

Without a word; he had brought his sword out. If the woman wasn't going to move, then he would just have to go for the kill, with her there.

It didn't matter if some of the blood got on her, she could easily wipe it off.

Though the second Aki began to take a few steps forward; the woman had immediately screamed in terror and waved her arms about, doing everything and anything, to keep him away.

"No, no! You don't understand, she's my daughter!"
She cried, practically wailing.

That had Aki pausing, his heart tightened after hearing such words, and he looked towards the woman with sympathy.

'Poor soul.'
He had thought and let out another sigh.

"I'll be sure to make it quick and painless."
He assured, despite expecting the same reaction.

Losing family wasn't easy - he, himself was well aware of that fact.

Yet, as the woman continued to sob and beg - he only took more steps forward; having his mind made up.

A fiend is a fiend.
They should all die, either way.
No matter how tragic or painful it was.
Aki hated fiends.

The woman remained desperate - at this point, she was prepared to throw tiny little stones at him. She'd do anything. Even die herself, if she had to - she had just wanted to protect her daughter.

Aki was also prepared; he knew the woman wouldn't be convinced or swayed easily, but he had a job to do.

Stones as her defence and a sword as his defence, it would've been obvious who had the upper hand - yet, you could never truly doubt a mother who was willing to do anything for her child.

"Aki."
A voice had stopped them both.

One that Aki recognised all too well, but for the woman? It was one that only had her rising her guard up, even more.

Aki turned around, hating how his cheeks had begun to slightly redden.

"Miss Makima."
He practically sputtered, his breath slightly caught in his throat.

Makima simply smiled in response, and all Aki could think about was how angelic she looked.

It was weird. He found himself always getting tongue tied around her, at loss for words. Easily getting red, and he just couldn't stand it.
