Time to remind them why it's a bad idea to mess with the son of Poseidon.
I crouched low behind the bushes, watching the Ares kid stalk toward me, completely oblivious to the danger lurking just a few feet away. This was almost too easy. Ares kids, known for their brute strength, were hardly subtle. They relied on muscle, not brains.
Me? I was the opposite. I thrived on being sneaky. Fast. Unpredictable. And right now, I had the element of surprise on my side.
The kid moved closer, their sword gripped loosely in one hand. They had no idea what was coming.
Showtime.
In one swift motion, I lunged from my hiding spot, moving faster than they could react. My trident swung wide, catching them in the side with a brutal blow that sent them stumbling. They let out a pained grunt, but before they could even think about retaliating, I was on them.
I slammed the blunt end of my trident into their stomach, knocking the wind out of them. They crumpled to the ground, gasping for air. I didn't wait for them to recover. I grabbed them by the collar, yanking them up and slamming them hard against a nearby tree.
Their eyes widened in shock, fear flashing across their face as they struggled weakly in my grip.
Not today, buddy.
I tightened my hold, pressing the trident against their throat just enough to keep them quiet.
Me: "Shh. You'll thank me later."
They barely had time to process what was happening before their body went limp in my hands, knocked out cold from the impact. I lowered them gently to the ground, making sure they wouldn't wake up anytime soon. One down. Five more to go.
Let's make this quick.
I glanced around the area, making sure no one else had seen or heard anything. The remaining Ares kids were still inside the hideout, blissfully unaware that one of their own was now lying unconscious in the dirt.
Time to keep the momentum going.
I moved swiftly, slipping back into the shadows like I'd never been there. My pulse raced, but my mind was clear. Every step was calculated, every movement precise. I had to take them out, one by one, without making too much noise. Stealth was my greatest weapon right now, and I wasn't about to lose it.
I circled around to the back of the hideout, staying low as I watched the entrance. A few moments passed before the door creaked open again, and another Ares kid stepped out, probably checking on their teammate.
They looked around, frowning. Their instincts were telling them something was off, but they didn't know what. Not yet.
This is where you make your move, Percy.
I stalked closer, my footsteps silent as I approached from behind. The kid had no idea I was there, too focused on scanning the area for any signs of trouble. By the time they realized I was right behind them, it was already too late.
I slammed the hilt of my trident into the back of their knee, sending them crashing to the ground with a sharp cry. They tried to get up, but I was faster. I spun the trident around, driving the sharp prongs into the ground beside their head. Their eyes went wide, fear flashing across their face as they realized just how close they'd come to being skewered.
Me: "You're not going anywhere."
With a swift motion, I knocked them out cold, leaving them unconscious beside their teammate. Two down. This was getting easier by the minute.
I wiped the sweat from my brow, my heart racing as I scanned the area. The rest of the Ares kids were still inside, probably arguing about something stupid. That was fine by me. The more distracted they were, the better.
Okay, Percy.
Time for the grand finale.
I crept closer to the door, my trident gripped tightly in my hand. I could hear muffled voices coming from inside the hideout, the remaining three Ares kids clearly getting restless. They probably noticed their buddies had been gone a little too long by now, but they had no idea what was waiting for them outside.
Good. That made my job a whole lot easier.
I waited for the right moment, my body coiled like a spring, ready to strike. The door creaked open again, and one more Ares kid stepped out, glancing around suspiciously.
Third time's the charm.
Before they could react, I launched myself forward, my trident swinging wide. The prongs caught them in the ribs, sending them sprawling to the ground with a pained shout. This one was tougher than the others, though. They managed to scramble to their feet, drawing their sword in a wild, desperate swing.
I dodged it easily, side-stepping their attack and delivering a swift kick to their stomach. They doubled over in pain, and I took the opportunity to knock the sword from their hand. It clattered to the ground, and I swung my trident again, this time driving the blunt end into their chest.
They hit the ground hard, gasping for air, but I didn't let up. I yanked them up by the collar, slamming them against the wall of the hideout.
Me: "You're done."
One final blow, and they went limp in my arms, unconscious like the rest. I dropped them unceremoniously to the ground, stepping back to admire my handiwork. Three down, two to go.
I wiped the blood off my trident, glancing around to make sure no one else was watching. The remaining two were probably still inside, clueless. I had time.
Time to vanish.
I disappeared back into the trees, leaving no trace of my presence behind. By the time the others figured out what had happened, I'd be long gone, and their teammates would be out cold. Efficient, brutal, and quiet. Exactly the way I liked it.
As I crept away into the shadows, I couldn't help but grin. The storm was coming for the Ares cabin, and they had no idea what hit them.
