Y/N couldn't tear her eyes away from Jungkook. The thought of being this close to him in real life was overwhelming. All the years she had spent admiring him from afar, dreaming of moments like this, and here he was—so casually standing within reach. It felt unreal.
Yerin noticed her unease and gave her a playful nudge. "Come on, you've always dreamed about this, right? I know you're a huge fan. This could be your one chance!"
Y/N shook her head, trying to calm her racing heart. "I don't know. What would I even say? He probably meets hundreds of fans every day. I'm just another face in the crowd."
Yerin raised an eyebrow, smirking. "You're not just anything, Y/N. You're bold and talented, and let's not forget you're here in Seoul for a reason. Trust me, you'll regret not at least saying a simple hello."
The logical part of Y/N's brain agreed with Yerin, but her emotions were running wild. She had always imagined what meeting Jungkook might feel like, but never did she expect it to happen under such normal, everyday circumstances. Was she even ready for this? Could she handle the real Jungkook—the one who wasn't behind a screen or on stage?
After what felt like an eternity of internal debate, Y/N finally gave in to the adrenaline pumping through her veins. "Okay, fine. I'll say hi, but that's it. No more."
Yerin grinned and gave her a supportive pat on the back. "That's the spirit. I'll come with you for backup."
They slowly made their way toward the small group. Jungkook was chatting animatedly with his friends, seemingly unaware of the small crowd forming around him. Fans were politely keeping their distance, snapping photos from afar, but the occasional bold one approached him for an autograph or a selfie. He smiled graciously at each request, always humble and kind.
As they inched closer, Y/N's nerves spiked. Her palms grew clammy, and her stomach churned with nervous excitement. Every step felt heavier than the last.
Finally, they were within arm's length of him. Yerin gave her a gentle nudge forward, signaling that now was her moment. Y/N hesitated, her heart pounding in her chest, but then Jungkook turned his head slightly, his gaze briefly catching hers.
For a moment, time stood still.
His eyes, bright and curious, locked with hers. Y/N's breath hitched in her throat as the world around her blurred. It was as if no one else existed in that moment but the two of them.
Jungkook gave her a small, warm smile—just a simple gesture, but enough to melt her worries. His expression was calm, welcoming, not the intimidating aura she had imagined. The boyish charm that had made him a global sensation radiated effortlessly in person, yet he seemed so grounded, so real.
"Hi," she finally managed to squeak out, her voice barely above a whisper. "I'm Y/N. I—uh—just wanted to say... I'm a big fan of your work."
She mentally cringed at how awkward she sounded. Of all the things she could've said, why did it have to be that? But before she could overthink it, Jungkook smiled again, this time more genuinely.
"Thank you," he said, his voice soft and kind. "It's nice to meet you, Y/N."
Her heart fluttered. He remembered her name! He actually said her name!
Yerin, sensing the tension, jumped in. "We didn't want to disturb you or anything, but my friend here has been a fan for years. She's just moved to Seoul for work, so I guess meeting you on her first week is kind of like fate, huh?"
Jungkook chuckled at that, and the sound was enough to make Y/N's knees weak. He looked back at her, his eyes filled with curiosity. "Really? That's amazing. What kind of work are you doing?"
"I'm a graphic designer," she answered, trying to sound more confident than she felt. "I moved here for a new job with a design firm."
"That's cool," Jungkook replied, his genuine interest shining through. "Graphic design must be really fun. I've always been interested in art and design. We work with a lot of graphic designers for our albums and projects."
Hearing him speak so casually about a subject she loved made her relax a little. She had always known about Jungkook's artistic side—his interest in drawing and photography—but hearing it directly from him made it feel more personal.
The conversation flowed more naturally after that. Jungkook asked about her experiences in Seoul so far, and Y/N shared her excitement about living in the city. Yerin joined in occasionally, helping to keep the mood light. Jungkook's friends, noticing his conversation with Y/N, respectfully gave them space, allowing her a few more precious minutes of his time.
Just as the conversation was winding down, Jungkook glanced at his phone and winced slightly. "I'm sorry, I have to head out soon. It was really nice meeting you both. Maybe I'll see you around."
Y/N's heart sank a little at the thought of him leaving, but she nodded, understanding that his time was limited. "It was really nice meeting you too. Thank you for being so kind."
As he turned to leave, Jungkook paused and looked back at her one last time. "Good luck with your job, Y/N. I'm sure you'll do great things here."
With that, he waved and walked off, disappearing into the crowd with his friends. Y/N stood there for a moment, rooted to the spot, her mind reeling from what had just happened. She had actually met Jungkook—talked to him, shared a moment with him—and it wasn't a dream.
Yerin's voice snapped her back to reality. "Well, that went better than expected, huh?"
Y/N could only nod, still dazed by the encounter. "I can't believe that just happened," she whispered, more to herself than to Yerin.
Yerin laughed, linking her arm with Y/N's. "Believe it, girl. You just had a real conversation with Jeon Jungkook, and he liked you! I could see it in his eyes."
Y/N blushed at the thought, but she quickly shook her head. "No, don't be ridiculous. He was just being nice."
"Sure, keep telling yourself that," Yerin teased, giving her a playful wink. "But mark my words, this won't be the last time you two cross paths. Seoul is smaller than you think."
Over the next few days, Y/N tried to return to her normal routine, but she couldn't stop replaying her encounter with Jungkook in her mind. It felt like a dream she didn't want to wake from. Every time she passed by a group of fans or saw his face on a billboard, her heart skipped a beat. It was surreal, knowing she had actually spoken to him.
At work, she threw herself into her projects, trying to focus on the tasks at hand. Her colleagues were supportive and encouraging, and she began to settle into her role with more confidence. But every now and then, during quiet moments, her thoughts would drift back to that sunny day at Namsan Tower.
One evening, while she was working late at the office, her phone buzzed with a notification. It was a message from Yerin.
Yerin: "You won't believe this, but I just found out that our company might be working with BigHit Entertainment on a new project! Imagine if you got to work with BTS!"
Y/N's heart leaped into her throat as she stared at the message. BigHit Entertainment? A project with BTS?
She quickly typed back, her fingers shaking slightly.
Y/N: "Are you serious? Do you know what the project is about?"
Yerin responded almost immediately.
Yerin: "Not sure yet, but I'll keep you updated! This could be huge for us!"
Y/N felt her pulse quicken. Could this be the beginning of something bigger? Could fate really be intertwining her life with Jungkook's in ways she had never imagined?
She didn't know what the future held, but one thing was clear: her journey in Seoul had only just begun, and the possibilities seemed endless.
