Evangeline
Today is my birthday and I am eighteen years old. For most people with a normal family turning eighteen is when you move out or go to college or do something fun with their life. With my family we inherit the family business. My whole life has been spent preparing for this day.
Usually it would go to the first born son but since I am an only child and a girl it is going to me. My mother doesn't approve but it doesn't matter, approval or not I am going to inherit the business. My father has invited our allies and family and friends to a party tonight where I'll be signing the papers to my future empire.
To be completely honest I'm surprised my father would go through with this. He's never wanted me to take over the business at such a young age and neither did I. I've always wanted to wait until I was at least 20 to start doing my part in the business but due to my fathers new medical issues it wasn't an option anymore. Not that I am complaining, I just never thought the day I turn eighteen would be the day my life would be filled will paper work and call after call, but I can handle it. I always do.
Nonetheless I am anxious for tonight, the guy I despise will be there according to his brother, my best friend, Luca. Luca and I have been best friends since we were babies because our mothers are also best friends. His brother on the other hand, vin, I've hated him since my thirteenth birthday.
I had a huge crush on him growing up and at some point we were closer than me and Luca were. We did everything from ding dong ditching neighbors houses to having innocent sleepovers and movie marathons. None of that matters, we aren't little kids anymore.
Nothing matters anymore, from this day forward everything I've spent my whole life preparing for will take over my life completely. There is no more Evangeline without a business tied to my name.
"Evangeline, you have 30 mins to finish getting ready our guest are almost here," dad shouts from downstairs.
Sighing I get up from my vanity to grab my outfit for tonight and put it on.
The vibe I'm going for is cute but screams power. After all I am taking over the highest ranking mafia in the world along with many other businesses.

The party started an hour ago. So far all our allies have kept the peace, I doubt any of them will do anything to mess up the alliance the have with us but you never know.
Luca just arrived and he immediately begun informing on a girl he has his eye on. Vincenzo on the other hand hasn't arrived and I'm glad. Knowing Vin he will likely be here later on in the night.
"Evangeline come here sweetheart let me introduce you to a good friend of mine," dad called out to me.
Sighing I give one last look at Luca before heading towards my father and his 'friend'. I use that term loosely because I know they're just allied.
A couple hours later the time has come to where I need to sign the papers and take over the company. My dad wanted me to meet him in his office before I sign the papers.
When I enter the office Im socked to see Vincenzo and his father.
What the freak is going on here
"Umm you needed me?" I question still confused.
"Ah yes please take seat darling I have some things I would like to discuss with you."
"Right now?" I glance at Vin then back at dad.
"Yes darling I am afraid this can't wait" he sighs.
Skeptically I take a seat next to Vin. I wonder what is so important it can't wait until tomorrow. And since when does my father like Vin? Last time I checked he was still mad about what happened to his car when we 'borrowed' it as kids.
