In the continent of Marley's, Liberio Internment Zone, Year 839
In the streets of Liberio, two kids run around with both of them having dark black hair and a grey armband around their left arm as passerby smile at the two as they run around, one being a boy with dark blue eyes and messy hair as he runs around with his arms spread out wide like wings and a big smile on his face and the other being girl with gray eyes and a ponytail following behind him and following his movements with an equal smile as she chases after him
Boy: You're so slow!
Girl: Just wait till I catch you!
The boy smiles as he continues running around as the girl smiles back at him and chases after him trying to tag him, the two continue running until the boy takes a sudden turn as the girl tries to follow his movement and slips to the ground as the boy turns around and rushes to her side
Boy: Are you okay!?
The boy kneels to her as the girl looks at him and smiles before poking his head and pushing it back knocking him over
Girl: Tag!
Boy: Huh?
The girl quickly stands up and takes off running as the boy watches her before standing up and running after her
Boy: Cheater!
Girl: Too bad!
The girl continues running and turns her head and sticks her tongue out at him before running into someone and falling over and looks up to see a man with a officers outfit
Officer: Watch it you damn, devil.
The boy quickly rushes in and shields her as the officer ready's to strike the girl
Boy: I'm sorry, sir! It was my fault she wasn't paying attention! Don't hurt her, I'll take the punishment!
Officer: Even better.
The officer punches the boy in the face and knees him and knocks him over to the ground and kicks him multiple times before spitting on him and walking away
Officer: You damn Eldians are nothing but devils and burdens.
The girl quickly holds the boy close and cups his face looking at his injury
Girl: Tomas! Are you okay!?
Tomas looks at her and offers her a smile thought the pain
Tomas: As long as you're fine, then I am, Pieck.
Pieck: Idiot...
Pieck looks at him with a sad smile as tears runs down her face and onto his cheek
Tomas: Hey...don't be like that. Everything will be fine, I promise.
Tomas wipes the tears from Pieck and slowly stands up with her help and slowly starts walking with her while using his left hand to hold his mid section
Pieck: When will we ever be treated equally?
Tomas: I don't know. Maybe never, but I believe there might be some hope.
The two continue walking in silence as Tomas glances at her as Pieck notices and looks at him
Pieck: Something wrong?
Tomas: No...Just got lost in a thought.
Pieck smiles and continues walking with him, before she reaches down and holds his right hand as he slighly looks away
Tomas: Pieck...
Pieck: Hmm?
Tomas: Can we make a promise?
