Loona sat upright in the bed, letting the sheets fall away. She and Bee were both very exposed, their clothes lying here and there across the room. They hadn't exactly needed them for last night's activities, activities that would only have been made better if Tex had been there. He was now their...
well what was he now; a boyfriend to both of them? Did this make them a throuple or was this just some temporary fling that the Sin of Gluttony had decided to indulge in? She was used to being discarded once people were done with her. Everyone had done that so far.
Well... except for Blitz.
She hated the fact that her low confidence kept nagging at her even now. She was used to being lusted after by people she didn't really care for, weirdos and creeps with nothing but lust on their mind but with Tex and Bee it felt different.
Sure, she hadn't thought much of Bee when first they met, her low self-esteem taking control as it often did and causing her to feel so very small and insignificant next to someone who had both a stunning hot look as well as a kind of radiant personality that felt intoxicating to be around. It was like being next to a goddess. And now that amazing person was on the verge of panic as she explained the situation with Blitz, her dad.
"Wait, wait, wait. So my dad is in danger because of some booze being served by some demon?" Loona asked Bee who swallowed nervously.
"No!" Bee shot out, "it's not really booze, it's something worse. He... that demon... he just disguises it as alcohol to get people to drink it. I don't really know how it works but it's dangerous, a kind of magic that shouldn't be messed with. It's a drink made from the waters of a river that was called Lethe and it takes your memories away. That's where he gets his power and he's been doing this for a long time."
"Doesn't all booze do that?" Loona asked sarcastically, trying to keep a brave face over the mounting concern within her. Bee looked crestfallen.
"No Loona. I mean permenently. Forever. He literally takes the memories away." That really got Loona's attention. Her ears stiffened and she felt like all her other senses were honing to a razor's edge. She looked intently at Bee who was tracing patterns on the bed sheets and she noticed how she kept looking away as if ashamed, like she couldn't bear the scrutiny, like a child who was... guilty of something.
"Ok. Ok." Loona said, more to break the tension and keep things flowing than anything else. "So what. We just stop him before he drinks some of it, right?" She felt a kind of nervousness rise up within her as she fumbled around through her clothes to find her phone. "I'll just call my dad and tell him what's up. That way he won't drink it!" Her fingers twitched as she found her phone and unlocked it to begin calling her dad. She saw Bee go a bit stiff at her last word and it didn't take her long to realize what that meant."
"He's already been drinking it hasn't he?" That wave of mounting panic that had been building in her stomach felt like it was about to consume her. "Fuck. Fuck! Fuck!" she cursed as the phone rang... and rang... and rang. But Blitz didn't answer.
"Motherfu-aaargh!" she screamed and wanted to crush the Hellephone in her hand as if that would solve her problem. She looked back at the Sin of Gluttony who seemed to be on the verge of tears. She was holding something back.
"What aren't you telling me?" she asked, trying to keep her tone level and smooth. "Why do you look so... guilty?"
"Because... I think this is my fault."
"What do you mean?" Loona's voice sharpened, the concern in her gut twisting into something darker.
Bee took a deep breath, the weight of her confession pressing down on her. "I've been meddling, trying to get Blitz to meet that Verosika. Ever since that party where we first met... I thought maybe if they talked, they'd work things out, or at least come to some kind of understanding. But... I didn't realize that by doing that, I might have put him on a collision course with this demon."
