(Karn's POV)

I had grown accustomed to the steady rhythm of my horse's gait, a comforting cadence that had carried me through countless journeys. The sun was inching closer to the horizon, casting long shadows across the landscape. The boundary of the Vidyalaya finally came into view, and I couldn't help but feel a mix of relief and weariness. With a subtle nudge, I urged my horse forward, and we quickened our pace slightly, eager to cross the threshold back into familiar territory.

As we passed through the gates, the horse handlers quickly arrived, efficiently taking the reins from us. I dismounted, feeling the tension in my muscles from days of travel.

"Rest well tonight, everyone," I advised my companions, who were equally weary from the journey. "Tomorrow, we'll convene with the teachers to review our progress."

Just then, I spotted Rambha approaching from the gate, her presence as calming as ever. She fell into step beside me, her eyes searching my face for signs of how the journey had gone.

"Was your visit productive?" she asked, her tone gentle yet curious.

"Oh, you could say that," I replied, a hint of exasperation slipping into my voice. "But I'm starting to feel more like a negotiator than a teacher."

"That's a necessary skill, too," she pointed out, always the voice of reason.

"Yes, necessary, but increasingly tiresome," I admitted, unable to mask my frustration. "I'm growing weary of banging my head against the same walls with these royals and their courtiers. The endless rounds of nitpicking and negotiations-it's enough to drive a man mad."

"Do you ever regret not taking a kingdom for yourself?" Rambha asked, her tone probing but not accusatory.

"Never," I said firmly, shaking my head as if to ward off the very idea. "I've had my fill of royal intrigues just from these occasional dealings. The thought of enduring that daily-being surrounded by sycophants and power-hungry schemers-I'd go mad within a week. I'm much happier with the physical exertion of drills and practice, the clarity that comes from hard work."

I shuddered involuntarily at the thought of being ensnared in the daily grind of court life, the constant scheming and manipulation. The very idea was suffocating.

"But you still rely on royal patronage," Rambha reminded me, her tone practical.

"Yes, and the divine grace that often trumps the whims of these petty kings," I added with a wry smile. "I've had enough of their games, thank you very much."
