Notes: 01

The great war begins. Its day 2

I have taken inspiration from various sources and primarily from Dr. S. Bapat of BORI and his descriptions of the Mahabharat.

The war started after making the below rules and each of them were violated by the end of the war, by both sides.

1. Everyone will fight with there equal. A Maharathi with Maharathi, an atirathi with atirathi, a Hasti (elephant) with a hasti.

2. Nobody should attack a weaponless opponent, no should one attack an opponent who is fleeing.

3. People should declare there leanings and issue challenge, before attacking. The challenge must be accepted by your opponents.

4. No poisons, should be used in the battles.

5. The attackers should not gang-up on a single warrior.

Karn's POV

"Today, I will fight with the main forces on the land. Abhimanyu and Satyaki are already positioned ahead. In my absence, Maatang will command our Vahini. Maatang, intervene where you deem fit."

"Why this change, Gurudev? Using rivers and boats gave us the unique advantage." Maatang's confusion echoed in the tent.

"Because after yesterday's stunt, we'll be targeted. All eyes will be on the boats and the river. We should never become predictable. I will fight with the main army and draw their attention. This way, you'll have the necessary cover to carry out the plan."

(Kurukshetra, Day 2)

The Pandavs formed the Kraunch Vyuha today. Arjun led from the front with Drupad, Virat, and Dhritaketu. Bheem and Dhrishtadyumn were on the right wing, while Abhimanyu and Ghatotkach took the left. Satyaki, Yudhisthir, the twins, and I anchored the trunk and rear of the formation.

From the heights, I could see the Kauravs mirroring the bird-like formation of Kraunch vyuh of their own. Bhishm, Dron, and Ashwatthama were at the head, with Bhishm leading. Elephant divisions flanked their wings-Kalingraj and Jayadrath on the left, while Bhagadatta and Alambusha held the right. Duryodhan sat in the middle, surrounded by his brothers and generals. Kripa, Kritavarma, and Shakuni reinforced the rear.
