RULE FOUR: Players must have enough points to move on to the final round.
"An almond milk chai? You want it hot or iced?" I smile at the customer, "Iced? Okay you got it, that'll be 4.50." I looked at the practically empty tip jar after handing him his drink and I huff out a sigh. I rubbed my eyes tiredly, after my fight with Jeremy last night I couldn't seem to sleep. Come on, I mean I was being delusional, I won't actually play Panic will I? And to actually think I could win is crazier.
Once I got off my shift I noticed my phone had been blowing up. Oh shit, Heather got fired. I furrowed my brows down while reading the messages and started my car, well tried to. Everytime I have to restart it at least three times, check the grill, and usually I punch the steering wheel once or twice out of annoyance. Finally, once it turned on I drove up to the pharmacy Natalie works at.
I pulled up to see the three of them walking around the back. I parked and got out next to them, pulling Heather into a quick hug. "He fired you?" I asked, still in disbelief, "You're the only one who actually does anything." "I'm sorry Heather." Nat wrapped herself around the girls arm, "Want me to poison him?" I snickered quietly as Heather sighed, "You know as much as that idea excites me, I do not know how you would pull that off." "I wouldn't doubt that she could." I added and Nat pointed out, "Well, I do refill his prescriptions." "That's... kind of dark."
"Well." Nat let go of Heather to face us, "When I win Panic we don't have to worry about jobs." "What did I tell you guys." Heather sighed and pointed at Bishop and I, "She's serious." I bit my lip and remained silent. "You guys should be rooting for me." She continued and Heather reminded, "People died last year, Natalie." "I mean people die... in bathtubs and in car accidents." Nat spoke, attempting to justify the game. Heather placed her hands on her hips, "Yeah especially when they're walking blindfolded across the freeway. I can't lose you, Natalie." "You couldn't get rid of me if you tried." Nat smiled. At this point I was just kind of standing awkwardly with Bishop with my arms hugged around my body. "Besides." Natalie continues to tell Heather, "Who is going to keep me grounded, when I'm a rich and famous actress?" "Oh I can think of three people." Bishop joins in and I smile slightly, "Especially when I'm famous in LA right with you."
"Alright so let's recap." Heather starts, pointing at Nat, "You are moving to Hollywood." "And you two are going off to college." She points at Bishop and I, "And I am just going to live here forever." "Are you saying that you're going to miss us? Is that what this is?" Bishop inquired jokingly and I shared a look with Nat. Heather explains, "What I'm saying is that you three losers are abandoning me." "Hm." The four of us head back to the pharmacy so Nat doesn't lose her job too since her break was coming to an end.
Nat squeezes my hand and gives Heather another hug before going back into work. As Bishop heads to grab his bike, I turn to Heather and offer, "Hey I can ask Jim if he's hiring at the cafe, but he'll probably say no... but if you want to print out a resume I can pick you up later and drive around town to see if anyone is hiring." "Are you sure Jac?" Heather asked and I explained, "I have to go into town to put up for my fliers anyways so I wouldn't mind." "Okay." Heather nodded, "That'd be great, let me know when you're on your way?" "Of course." I nodded and grabbed my car keys.
