Mentioned in a previous chapter, Jack has experienced love twice. His first wasn't so great. He left that relationship with a confused and broken heart. Jack hadn't been exactly that confident after that but he decides to go for it once more.
This time, Jack's relationship wasn't that long. It's was rather brief compared to his first tangle in what's called love.It started in art class, where Jack was just following instructions and doing his assignment. His focus was suddenly broken when he saw an unfamiliar girl with long hair and bangs completely covering her eyes walk into the classroom. He didn't look that long and was continuing his assignment short after. When the teacher told the girl to take the empty seat next to Jack she silently went to the seat, put down her backpack and jacket, and sat down slowly.
A few minutes after she was settled in, Jack greeted her saying," Hi, I'm Jack. Nice to meet you." He ended his statement with a quick casual smile. She looked up at Jack and smiled shyly. She wasn't much of a talker, but she says plenty with her body language.
Jack could tell that she was sort of uncomfortable so he decides to try to break the ice by asking if she needed any help doing the assignment. Much to Jack's surprise, the girl was doing much better than he was. Turns out, she's a very good artist. Jack discovers this by seeing her take out her binder and replacing her wooden pencil with a mechanical one.
As she was doing that Jack catches a glimpse of her drawings and sketches. She draws anime style characters and slightly cartoony landscapes. At the bottom right corner of a piece of art, Jack's sees her name written on it. "So your name is Kim." Jack says as he smiles. She responds with a slow and shy nod. He chuckles and says that she's quite the silent person and that she should try to talk to people more often if she wasn't going to already to get used to the school. She responds this time with a, "Sure I'll try, Thank you." Jack smiles brightly and said "You have a very nice voice". Kim smiles and looks away. At that moment, Jack felt something for her. He tries not to think of it and continues his assignment.
At the end of class, Jack walks up to Kim and says, "If you need someone to talk to or if you have any questions to ask, you can always find me to do so and I'll try my best to help you." Jack gives a friendly and casual smile. Kim looks down shyly and says okay with a quick nod and walks off to class. "She's kind of cute, maybe she's worth a shot?..."
Jack was contemplating on whether he wants to have another girlfriend or not. Afraid that she won't like him like his first. He's already been heartbroken once, and he doesn't want to feel that way again. Jack feels as though the raincloud that finally left him alone was coming back for another heavy storm.
A few days later, Jack goes to Kim and asks her some questions. Those questions were about what kind of guy she liked, what she liked doing, and what she didn't like. Jack felt that if he knew those things, he would be a better person. Kim had a face that was questioning his intentions. Jack assured her by saying that he was curious and just wanted to know. "There's no specific reason." Jack said as he meandered away from her.
A couple of days after that, he finally asked Kim to be his girlfriend. She looked really surprised and her face turned bright red. She didn't know how to react or what to think. As a response to Jack's out of the blue question, she smiled shyly and restedher head to Jack's chest. For the first time in awhile, Jack felt happy.
He felt good to be able to express his feelings to someone else again. He was only happy for a brief time though. As time went by, Jack realised that her shyness wasn't exactly shyness at all. Those gestures that he mistook for shyness was actually rejection. He didn't disocver that until it was about time for her to leave to go to another school.
Their "relationship" only lasted a month. Jack felt pretty bad because he was wasting his time on someone that didn't love him. Compared to his first time though, he wasn't really that sad. He only felt the coldness of depression take him away again.
"Why must this happen to me all the time? I'm not a bad person, so why am I the one being thrown away? I just want someone to love me for who I am, is that too much to ask for in this world?"
Jack only wants to share his feelings with someone, but no matter what he does, life doesn't grant him that liberty.
So now he just has to accept the fact that he just can't love someone randomly. His perfect soul mate is out there somewhere, he just has to look hard enough.
