Alison's POV
Monday morning was pretty standard. English was third period, and after everything that had happened over the weekend, I was actually looking forward to seeing Blake again. Things felt different now—easier. I wasn't nervous anymore. If anything, I was comfortable in the quiet understanding we seemed to have settled into.
Amy and I strolled toward the classroom at a leisurely pace, talking about nothing in particular—until she hit me with, "So, are you excited to see your wifey?"
I shot her a look. "Excuse me?"
She rolled her eyes. "You know, your favorite teacher, Ms. Bradley? The one you definitely have a crush on?"
My mouth opened, but no words came out.
Amy smirked. "Oh, come on, don't look so shocked, mate. You stare at her constantly. When she's in a room, you hang on her every word. And, funnily enough, you haven't even snogged anyone since she started teaching here. I'm not stupid, Alison."
I scoffed. "You're delusional."
She just hummed in amusement as we walked into the empty English classroom.
"Hey, Alison! Amy!"
I turned to see Thomas approaching, his usual easygoing grin in place.
"Hey, Thomas," I greeted as Amy waved.
His eyes lingered on me. "How are you? Actually, glad I ran into you. I was wondering if yo—"
The click of sharp heels cut through the air, and an instant later, Blake strode into the room, her presence commanding as always.
Her eyes zeroed in on Thomas. "Thomas." Her tone was cool, edged with irritation. "Get out of my classroom and stop distracting my students. You are not in this class."
Thomas hesitated. "But Miss, I—"
"One more word and you'll have detention."
His shoulders slumped in defeat. He glanced at me briefly before walking out, muttering under his breath.
I exchanged a glance with Amy, barely holding back a chuckle. Blake really didn't like Thomas. She was never this harsh with anyone else. I didn't know why—maybe she just had no patience for him, or maybe it was because she knew he was taking me to the formal.
Either way, I wasn't complaining.
"Hi, Ms. Bradley," I greeted her, sliding into my usual seat with ease.
Amy stiffened beside me, like I'd just done something insane.
Blake turned from watching Thomas leave, and the second her gaze met mine, her entire demeanor shifted.
The coldness melted away. Her sharp, commanding presence softened into something... warm. Something gentler.
Her lips didn't quite smile, but the corners twitched, and there was a quiet fondness in her eyes.
