Alison's POV

I had my music blasting in my headphones as I browsed through Ann Summers, searching for some nice underwear and perfume.

I'd picked up a few things from different shops today, but I still hadn't found anything to wear to Olivia's night out at the end of the month. Only two weeks to go, and I was running out of time.

"Alison, look! What do you think?" Olivia grinned, holding up a scandalous bodysuit.

I smirked. "Oh, that is very your style, babes."

She giggled and nodded. "Okay, I'm gonna go pay for this, then I need to run to H&M. Meet you in an hour?"

I nodded, and she glanced down at the red lace set in my hands. "And get that. It looks killer."

I grinned. "Yeah, yeah."

She turned and strode off toward the till. After a few minutes, I did the same, paying for my things before stepping out onto the bustling street. There was one more boutique I wanted to check out—somewhere with cute dresses.

I was just about to put my headphones back in when I felt a hand on my shoulder. Surprised, I turned—and found none other than Blake Bradley standing in front of me.

For a second, I just stared. She looked gorgeous. My eyes couldn't help but travel down her body. Large dark sunglasses framed her sharp features, her dark hair styled into an elegant low bun. A beige coat hung perfectly over her shoulders, revealing a black turtleneck tucked into fitted black jeans, paired with knee-high snakeskin heeled boots.

I'd definitely been staring too long. Quickly, I flicked my gaze back up to her face—only to find her looking at me.

Or, more specifically, at my dress.

I supposed I did look a little different today. The mustard-colored dress hugged my waist and skimmed mid-thigh, accentuating my curves.

My hair was half up, spilling down my back in soft waves. I wore sheer tights—because, well, autumn—and had paired it with a long coat and ankle boots. The neckline was a little lower than usual, which was probably why Blake's eyes lingered just a moment too long.

"Blake," I breathed.

"I saw you leaving the shop and thought I'd say hello... so, hello," she said quietly.

I chuckled. "Hello. And what exactly were you doing in Ann Summers?" I waggled my eyebrows at her.

She shrugged. "Buying some more BDSM supplies. I was out."

I laughed. "Hmm. So was I."

Her lips twitched, but then her expression shifted—something more hesitant, awkward, even. It was strange to see on her. "So... who was that woman you were with? I don't recognize her from school."

I tensed slightly. I didn't like my school life and my personal life mixing. "Just a friend. Why?"

Blake looked away, watching people pass us by. "Just wondering. You two looked... close."

I shrugged. "We are."

Something flickered behind her sunglasses. Annoyance? Disapproval? I couldn't tell.

She stared at me, her gaze so intense I could feel myself leaning into her. I righted myself quickly.

"Are you shopping for anything in particular today?" she asked.
