The booming sound from the coast echoed through the swamp, shaking the trees and sending flocks of birds scattering into the mist. The ninja stood frozen for a moment, the weight of the situation settling in. They had come expecting to find clues, maybe a few scattered pirate attacks, but now it was clear that something much bigger was at play.
"We need to move!" Lloyd shouted, already sprinting in the direction of the explosion. His green energy flickered around him as he leapt over fallen branches and cut through the thick fog.
The others followed, their footsteps splashing in the mud as they raced toward the coast. Morro stayed close behind Lloyd, his senses on high alert. The wind had changed again—becoming more chaotic, swirling in all directions as if warning them of the storm brewing ahead. It wasn't just a natural force anymore. Morro could feel something darker within it, something pulling the wind like strings on a puppet.
"What's happening out there?" Kai shouted from behind, his voice barely audible over the growing roar of the wind. "Is this Nadakhan?"
Morro didn't answer right away, his eyes scanning the horizon as the coastline came into view through the thinning fog. They reached the edge of a rocky cliff overlooking the sea, and what they saw made his blood run cold.
Out on the water, a massive ship loomed in the distance, its black sails billowing in the wind. The ship was unlike any Morro had ever seen—its design old and worn, as if it had sailed straight out of the past. The air around it shimmered with a strange energy, and even from this distance, Morro could feel the weight of its power.
But that wasn't the worst part.
The ship was surrounded by a swirling vortex of wind and lightning, the waves crashing violently against its sides. Above the ship, dark clouds spun in a menacing spiral, and at the center of the storm, a faint glowing figure hovered, just barely visible through the chaos.
"Nadakhan," Lloyd muttered under his breath, his fists clenching at his sides.
Morro's heart raced. It was him. The Djinn was already here, already beginning to bend the forces of nature to his will. The storm was his doing, and the longer they waited, the stronger he would become.
"This isn't good," Nya said, stepping up beside them. Her eyes were locked on the storm, her voice grim. "He's drawing power from the sea. If we don't stop him now, he'll be unstoppable."
Kai glanced at the ship, his fists flaming with frustration. "But how do we stop him? That ship is in the middle of a storm, and we're stuck on land!"
"We'll find a way," Lloyd said firmly, turning to face the others. "We have to. We've dealt with storms before, but this—this is different. Nadakhan's magic is already taking hold."
Morro stepped forward, his eyes fixed on the distant ship. "He's using the wind to fuel his power. I can feel it. If we can disrupt the flow of the wind, we might be able to slow him down, at least for a while."
Lloyd nodded. "It's a start. But we'll need to get closer."
"Leave that to me," Nya said, already summoning water from the ocean below. Her hands glowed with blue energy as she formed a large platform of water beneath their feet, lifting them into the air.
"Hang on," she warned, and in an instant, they were moving toward the ship, the platform skimming over the surface of the water.
As they approached the vortex, the winds howled around them, tugging at their clothes and hair. Morro could feel the pull of the storm growing stronger, but he focused on the flow of the air, guiding it with his powers to keep the team steady. His connection to the wind was the only thing keeping them from being thrown off course.
The ship loomed larger as they neared, its dark hull cutting through the water like a jagged blade. As they drew closer, they could see movement on deck—shadowy figures darting back and forth, preparing for battle.
"They're ready for us," Cole said, his voice low. "Looks like we're in for a fight."
Nya brought the platform to a halt just outside the vortex, the waters swirling violently beneath them. "I'll try to keep the waves under control, but you'll have to take out those pirates on deck."
"Let's go," Lloyd ordered, his eyes flashing with determination. In a single fluid motion, he and the others leapt from the platform onto the deck of the ship.
The moment their feet hit the wood, the pirates attacked. Blades clashed, and sparks flew as the ninja fought back, their movements swift and precise. The pirates were skilled, but they hadn't anticipated the full force of the ninja. Lloyd, Kai, Cole, and Zane cut through the enemy ranks with ease, their powers lighting up the darkened deck.
Morro, meanwhile, focused on the storm above. He could feel the pull of Nadakhan's magic, the way it twisted and manipulated the wind. He knew he had to stop it, but getting to the center of the vortex was going to be nearly impossible.
As he fought off a pirate trying to flank him, Morro caught a glimpse of something out of the corner of his eye—a figure moving through the shadows near the ship's helm. His heart skipped a beat. It wasn't Nadakhan, but it was someone close to him.
Clad in dark robes, with a face half-hidden behind a mask, the figure moved with purpose, as if commanding the very winds themselves. Morro could feel the shift in the air around him—the figure was controlling the flow of the storm, guiding it toward the ship.
"That's the one," Morro muttered to himself, his eyes narrowing. "They're the key."
He broke away from the fight, pushing past the chaos on deck as he sprinted toward the helm. The wind whipped around him, but he held firm, his powers countering the force of the storm as he climbed the stairs to the upper deck.
The figure didn't react at first, their focus entirely on the storm. But as Morro drew closer, they turned to face him, their eyes glowing with a strange light.
"Who are you?" Morro demanded, his voice barely audible over the roaring wind.
The figure didn't answer. Instead, they raised their hand, and a blast of wind slammed into Morro, knocking him back. He gritted his teeth, pushing against the force with his own powers, but the strength of the attack surprised him. Whoever this was, they were powerful—far more powerful than any of the pirates below.
"You can't stop this," the figure said, their voice cold and distant. "Nadakhan's return is inevitable. You and your friends are nothing more than a temporary obstacle."
Morro growled, pushing forward again. "We'll see about that."
The two of them clashed, their powers colliding in a fierce battle of wind and energy. Morro could feel the strain of the fight—this wasn't just about strength, it was about control. The figure was trying to force the wind to obey them, bending it to their will, but Morro had learned to listen to the wind, to let it guide him.
With a final surge of power, Morro broke through the figure's defenses, sending them sprawling across the deck. The wind around them calmed for just a moment, the storm above flickering as the figure struggled to regain control.
But before Morro could press the advantage, a voice boomed from above, deep and echoing.
"Enough."
Morro's heart dropped as he looked up.
Hovering above the ship, bathed in the light of the swirling vortex, was Nadakhan himself. His eyes gleamed with a predatory grin, and his voice was laced with amusement.
"So," Nadakhan said, his gaze fixed on Morro. "The winds have brought you to me. How fitting."
