Heavens Call

THACK!

BOOM!

BOOM!!

THUMP!!!!

Darkness enveloped the world, an empty, cold blackness that felt oppressive and uninviting. A darkness where Ezekiel already sensed the void of Brandon's presence, his scent...his love. All that remained was the thrums, whoosh, and pump of his heartbeat, powerful...but thready in his ear.

HEY!!

Came the shouting of an echoey voice from far away.... or was it closer than it seemed, because a moment later, Ezekiel's entire mind was lit up with numbing ice spikes in the base of his brain, making his seize awake with a muffled choke.

HEY!! WAKE UP! Ezekiel wake up...!

Landers shouting voice was familiar and oddly comforting in the moment. Even if his innate abilities were painful to be subjected to.

Nausea and exhaustion were at war in his every nerve ending, and an avalanche of discomfort rose to meet him in that moment, as awareness seemed to pour sluggish and cold back into his body.... like his soul was coffee, and his body was the empty mug. Slowly...so slowly, cold limbs and almost frozen senses snapped to awareness as more of him seemed to come back to reality. Pain and sleep rose out of his thoughts like steam, thawing his ridged body, warming him from the core outwards. Blurry heavy eyes cracked open.

His head cascading with sheets of dancing lights and jumbled words made it hard for him to feel any immediate urgency. Until another riot of numb ice bit into him and tore him closer to consciousness.

EZEKILE!! I swear to God I'll tell Mom your dead in there if you don't fucking respond to me!!!

Somehow Ezekiel gathered up the soupy contents of his mind and he weakly shared his understanding with the screaming irritation of Landers mind.

There was a sudden brain-rending snap of awareness, as if Ezekiel's mind was floating in a bubble outside of his own flesh, and in an instant, the bubble burst, and his mind slipped back into his own shell, but he felt ripped from one way of consciousness to the next. Unsettling.

I...I'm awake. Give me 5 more minutes.

Thoughts were like cold shards in his hands, slippery, and unpleasant. Ezekiel tried to orient his mind and understand where he was but he just felt so out of place that nothing was truly clicking just yet. He wondered how long he had been in such a state but he couldn't think back yet.

Ezekiel? Fuck man...its been so long since you responded...I was starting to get worried, Walter said you needed to rest and wouldn't let us in your room....He said some shit about your spirit being disoriented and that you were resting between planes. Asshole wouldn't let anyone wake you up! Then he suddenly told me to come wake your ass up and left the Mansion raging like a complete psycho!

Landers voice called back, and for a second Ezekiel got a sense that his elder brother had been minutes away from truly thinking he was dead. Ezekiel was still to confused to truly keep up so he just mumbled back.

Walter did what? Sorry...I just need...2 more minutes

Ezekiel tried to say more, but he was still so drained that he gave up and stopped. Lander seemed to be past his threshold for patience anyway because, with a harsh snarl in Ezekiel's mind, he spat.

We don't have any more time to wait for you! Bonsa is at the END of her ROPE. So, get up now! Come downstairs and eat something! Mom and Dad are freaking out, thinking you're going to croak from all the stress on your body. Show your face NOW!
