Now, the situation was a bit awkward.

Pete sat on the edge of the ceramic wall, which served as an extra flower pot. His right leg was crossed over his left, and his eyes awkwardly followed the blonde figure still holding a white mask in his hand.

He looks a bit crazy. Is he the gardener?

Vegas stood in front of Pete, his face expressionless as he stared sharply at the man in front of him, who was busy fixing his cracked mask. Despite being newly bought, the mask had been broken by a little cat, leaving a scratch on the man's cheek.

Geez...

"What are you doing here?" Vegas asked.

The man sneered. "I'm the trainer for this Rude Empress! And why are you sitting there in shorts like that?" He gestured to Pete, who was still wearing his denim shorts under a soft blue and white top.

"Let him wear whatever he wants," Vegas snapped.

Pete felt touched by Vegas's defense. If Vegas weren't the Emperor, Pete would have hugged him from behind by now. But the sharp gaze of the blonde man made Pete shift uncomfortably.

"Aren't you being too lenient, Vegas? It's giving me goosebumps," the man said, completely lacking in politeness.

Pete couldn't help but wonder, Who is this guy?

There was something about him that gave Pete a bad impression. Could it be...

"Khun, stop playing games. Why are you suddenly a coach?"

BANG!

Pete's mouth fell open as his suspicion was confirmed. Tankhun-a human like him, rare yet inevitable-was here. Pete wondered why their meeting now felt so different.

Tankhun was Kinn's cousin, which made him Pete's cousin too.

But the problem was, Pete's first encounter with Tankhun in the novel had been quite different. Tankhun was Pete's "partner" because of a family-arranged marriage, forcing Pete to marry his own cousin.

Even though neither Tankhun nor Pete loved each other.

This Tankhun was part of the Imperial Police, though he spent more time partying than working. His place in the Empire was secured solely because of Pete's father, the Prime Minister, who tolerated Tankhun's party-animal ways.

Tankhun also despised Vegas. In the novel, he had helped overthrow Vegas to defend Rosella. But Tankhun wasn't entirely loyal to Rosella; he was mainly concerned about his cousin and brother-in-law, hence his actions.

SOB!...

Suddenly, tears fell from Pete's eyes as he recalled how terrible "Pete's" life had been after marrying Tankhun, his own cousin.

Though briefly mentioned in the novel, it was implied that Tankhun didn't care about Pete at all. Tankhun never even acknowledged Pete's existence and even played a part in Pete's death sentence. Pete's last memory was of Tankhun turning his back on him, despite both of them being forced into the marriage.

Pete was forced too!

"Khun Pete!" Pol, standing next to him, noticed Pete's tears first.

Vegas turned in surprise to see Pete wiping his eyes. Tankhun looked stunned as well, but Pete didn't blame this version of Tankhun. This Tankhun was the man Pete knew before marriage; they had been on good terms, but things had changed after.
