"So, this is Matthew and Andrew; they are twins."
I smile, boldly so, though nervous in a sense because it's been many months since I've stood so close to either of them. The both of them smile at me — one being bright, almost like he mimics me, and the other is just polite, thought not too excited to see me.
"Hi. Gertrude, nice to meet you both."
"I'm Matthew, the older and more handsome one." Matt grins, leaning on one hip as he reaches over for my hand, giving its a very soft shake. "This is Andrew, who is younger than me and not as handsome."
"Is that really necessary?"
"For me to remind you of your position in this world? Of course." He cheekily grins.
Andrew sighs, shaking his head before he glanced at us both; us being Qaileen and I. "Nice to meet you. Qaileen told us we'd be having a plus one, though I thought it would be somebody I didn't know."
Consider me rather surprised, because I instantly forge a smile, though I can imagine the confusion written on my face. Though, quickly, my mind races as well as my heart, when I imagine the only reason he knows me.
"You... remember me?"
"Of course." He nods softly. "The day you admitted to loving Micah, in the university campus."
Oh. Oh, I am stunned. I think my jaw dislocated, and just at the smallest peak over at Matthew, I can tell he's surprised as well. Though, he grins, almost as if this isn't news to him, and chuckles as he shakes his head.
"Really?" Now, I turn to Qaileen who watches the twins momentarily, before she looks at me with her perfectly arched eyebrow raised. She's perplexed, though intrigued. "When... when was this?"
"Many, many, months ago." I force a laughter.
"You told him you loved him?"
"It was all a misunderstanding." Andrew chirps in, sighing softly as he shrugs. "Micah told us it was. Surprising that you both are now... friends?"
"Friends is generous."
"We're friends." I confirm, eyeing Matthew who grins at me, eyes slowly wandering my body, head to toe.
"Anyway... you guys have now met. I'll take you around so you see the premise. It's really cool."
The four of us go separate ways. The twins leave us and head to wherever they were going before we interrupted. Qaileen goes ahead, walking and talking, hand manoeuvring around as she explains certain things.
Of course, for the most part, I feign interest and curiosity considering I am very much aware of the premise. Maybe not every single room — and I guess, I don't know if I should be surprised that she's oddly familiar with the premise herself — but for the most part, I wasn't out of my element learning more of the space.
The sun nicely dips in the horizon. I fail to see it since she takes me outside, showcasing the luscious green grass and the forest not too far from us. I can't even lie, bringing us here brings back so much memories; it throws me back down memory lane. My eyes greedily take in every inch, feet staggering in its steps.
It's almost like it plays before my eyes, various of ghost memories playing before me, reminding me of a time when things were different. I wonder if it was like this for him; if he just stopped and watched his memories play before his very eyes. His were perhaps very distant, very transparent, very faded.
Qaileen goes on explaining that this is where events are held. Mind me, I quote, "ceremonies and events", as she casually wanders her hand whichever way to explain it.
