Spiritkit
It was yet another regular day in camp for Spiritkit. Warriors were out hunting and checking borders, Scarface was keeping Stormstar up to date with the latest scents of CloudClan cats on the border they shared with them, and Blackkit and Owlkit were busy bullying her and her littermates.
They never got a break- Shadowstorm had told them several times to behave themselves yet every single time she looked away, they'd continue their little 'bash' together with the three younger ones. It was annoying, and it never made anyone feel good. Except for Blackkit and his brother of course.
After they'd finished tormenting them, repeating over and over on how "we'll be apprentices in three sunrises while you have to wait a whole entire 'nother two moons", Spiritkit and her littermates finally were left by themselves for once.
"They're such foxhearts." Soulkit muttered, glaring after them as they trotted away. "Just 'cause they're bigger, they think they can boss us around!" He sat down with a thump.
"The only thing they're right about is being apprentices before us." Crystalkit spoke shyly, working her claws nervously on a patch of moss.
Spiritkit looked at her sister sadly, wishing their youngest littermate didn't have to grow up living every day with a sassy remark from what Shadowstorm called them their so called 'friends'.
Sitting at the edge of the nursery, she waited, and waited until her mother returned from a walk with their father. And after what seemed like ages, Snowwing finally made an appearance, Cloudfluff trailing not far behind. Except the only thing was that there were looks of concern on their faces. They looked disturb. And it worried Spiritkit.
They made their way to where Scarface and Stormstar sat, both their heads turning as they came up. After a few moments, they were in deep conversation.
She padded in their direction, only to be cut off my Greycloud. Her fathers sister, and her second most favourite cat in the clan. Yes, she was most terribly guilty of having favourites.
"Greycloud-" She started, but got interrupted.
"Spiritkit, it's best you let them talk." She warned, as if she knew exactly what the kits intentions were. "I think something happened when they were on a walk. I don't know what, but until they're finished talking, we should stay away. No clan likes an eavesdropper, do we?" She smiled.
"What- no, no! I wasn't going to eavesdrop." She said quickly. And that was the truth, she never intended to- in fact, she wanted to ask them flat out what was going on. She had a keen sense for telling something was off. Or maybe it was just obvious.
"Mhm, alright." Greycloud softly laughed, gazing affectionately at her.
Spiritkit fought back the urge to roll her eyes, when Nightfall padded through the entrance, Eaglepaw following not far behind. Spiritkit's heart leapt. There, following one of the greatest warriors in the clan with a mouse dangling from her jaws, was Spiritkit's favourite cat. Her best friend.
"Gotta go, bye Greycloud!" She squeaked, clearing her throat before bounding toward the apprentice excitedly. She stopped right in front of Eaglepaw as she dropped the mouse on the prey pile. She looked down at Spiritkit, surprise lighting her gaze.
"Ah, Spiritkit! You came out of nowhere." A gentle purr throbbed in her throat. "How've you been? Taught Blackkit and Owlkit a lesson yet?"
The white furred kitten laughed. "I'm doing great, now that you're here. And no, unfortunately not. They're still being little batblinded mousehearts." She grunted, frustration clawing at her belly until Eaglepaw wrapped her tail around the kits hind legs.
