RAINBOW SIX [Fisher, Samuel]
HEREFORD, UK

Four weeks have passed since the Nighthaven incident. Nighthaven has pulled out of the Rainbow Six collaborations but not without taking some of ours with them – money, technology, and protection, they have their reasons for leaving but they left a bad taste before switching their patches. One of our best has been under for a while, a coma, who knows how long till he's back in play. News about the whole fiasco managed to stay under wraps globally, but KOPASKA has a few bones to pick with the PMC. Harry thought it'd be a good idea to invite one of them to the program to help them get their pride back and another shot at the culprits, some good morale back home. Though I gave him the catch that there'd be no special treatment.

I slowly sipped the mug of coffee in my hand, the earthy scent and scalding hot brew were becoming a crutch of mine to keep up with these younger operators. Looking down from the observation deck of the stadium was now routine for me, watching from the birdseye and the interior cameras of the kill house. Zofia, Maestro, and Thatcher are on the ground instructing our newest recruits – The Striker and Sentry program curriculum was workshopped by me and a few of our veteran members on properly introducing the new blood to how things work in Rainbow—some catch on more quickly than others, and those who don't usually don't become specialists.

Of course, not everything is smooth sailing, despite the secrecy of our missions it hasn't stopped some recruits from treating our operators like celebrities and theorizing who did what. Due to some complaints, we had to separate them into another section on base and keep it on a training-only basis. Of course, some recruits come in as personal recommendations or hand-selected from on-the-field encounters, information contacts, or just another application form away.

"Yani Hutabalian, callsign: Deep Feeder," Looking at the other file. This was the one that Harry invited and proved he was capable of working with Rainbow after working with Ethan and Nokk. She put in a good word for him too and saved their asses with Arief's safe house. He's been playing nice with others but can get too aggressive on occasion. Something tells me he's not here for friendship and medals. Revenge can be a good motivator, but let it cloud your mind and you become a liability. Let's hope he can solve it before someone takes the consequences.

Leaving the observation deck, stepping into the idiotically long hallways of concrete and fluorescent lighting. Passing by small groups of recruits or specialists roaming about, at least I know I did a decent job at hiding my identity when I kept hearing rumors about who I was. Nothing escapes my ears. A brief walk across the base I found myself at Harry's office, stopping by to check in on him every so often to make sure he doesn't bury himself in paperwork. He's young and ambitious, I get why Aurelia chose him but a man gotta take a step back to appreciate the big picture before focusing on the details. I quietly open the door and find him passed out on his desk, a stack of papers in one hand and a fountain pen in the other. "Jesus..." I muttered taking the pen out of his hand and closing the top of the ink bottle before any spills or messes could land on something important. "Hey...Wake up," I squatted down beside him and lightly shook him, luckily he was a light sleeper.

"Hm...Oh!" He gasped as he shot up, straightening up his posture almost immediately. A little too fast as his chair reclined sharply. I grabbed it before it could do the thing. "Sam, how long have you been there...?" He sheepishly crawled into himself.

I checked my watch, "Two minutes."

"Ah, sorry you have to see me like this," He sobered up, running a hand through his hair before reaching for his pen. Scrambling to continue signing papers and reports. "Ever since Nighthaven left I've been buried up to my neck in demands and questions from their home countries." Before he could continue I snatched the pen and paper out of his hands before pointing to the couch in his office.

"Get some rest, Harry." Insisting as I pulled and pushed his chair out of his desk. "A full rest. I mean it." He was about to argue back but I insisted with a 'light' glare, like I said, Harry's good at his job he just forgets to be human every so often. Crossing my arms as he mocked a surrender and fell onto the couch. Rolling my eyes before I left the room.

Finally, there was one more stop I needed to make before I could go get some rest. The clacking of my boots became louder and louder as I marched down the halls of the base, this section was hauntingly quiet every time I came over. The infirmary. Taking a dollop of hand sanitizer from the machine outside the doors before stepping in, it wasn't as busy as it usually was though that was usually after the training sessions. "Hey Doc," I knocked on the desk as I found him. "I'm here for the usual."

"Ah, Sam, it's good to see you," Gustave smiled, handing me a sign-in sheet before telling one of the nurses to check on the patient. Sliding the clipboard back, he motioned for me to keep going. "You know where he is."

"Hey...Is she still here?" I leaned and quietly asked him, hoping that the person in question had gone back to their room or was somewhere else on base. Every time I visited she was still here, stuck to the side of his bed like velcro. A somber look and nod was more than enough to make me let out an exasperated sigh. I shook my head as I marched over, slowly peeling back the curtain to see my doubts proven right.

Nokk was sat in a chair beside the bed, her hand clasped on his as she muttered softly. Doc and the nurses had tried numerous times to get them apart after the incident but it's been near impossible as she kept finding ways inside. Following the arm up to the face, Ethan was left in a coma after he fell from a helicopter. Nothing worked to get him to wake up for some time but we get the occasional mumble so there is hope. When the helicopter landed back on base it was chaos, she was hysterical and so were a few others.

Not that I could blame them. But for one of our best to cause this much trouble, something needs to be said before one of them ends up dead, or worse...Both.
