The crack of rifles and shotguns firing filled the air as my team and I pushed through a simulated road tunnel, a small army of multiple small teams awaited us at multiple angles as we pushed forward. Harry's stadium project wasn't the best idea in the world but it certainly got us some benefits, the most important one being more funding from the U.N., which meant new recruits that needed to be pushed to their limits. Montagne, Jaeger, Ying, Maverick, myself, and a newcomer codenamed Thorn were facing off against Rainbow's newest recruit program. Strikers and Sentrys; Attack and Defense. The strikers were meant to push back against us while the Sentries were defending their objective site.

I was armed with a new rifle, a custom order to the R&D Department from Sam, the SC-40K ASR – a bullpup-styled rifle along the same lines as his FN-F2000.

"Your home countries trained you to operate at your limits," Sam spoke through the intercom system. Echoing through the simulated road tunnel was his gravely old voice. "Rainbow will push you beyond that. I'm confident in your abilities, but I'm more confident in what our current operators have in store for you.

Speaking of Sam, he was watching the training up from the command room of the stadium, felt like I was some sort of guinea pig to see if the gun would blow up or not. As of recently, he's been running the training program personally, though what seems to be off was that I seemed to be on every scheduled training there. I asked the others if they've been through the wringer like this but while they've had intense training Sam hasn't singled any of them out like me. I want to assume it's because I've been out of commission for the last few weeks but that doesn't seem to be the case.

I signaled to Montage and Ying to push up as I let off an EMP – combining it with her Candelas for one hell of a surprise. The rest of us provided cover fire as they pushed forward, but as we got more ground we forgot to cover our rear. One of the Striker recruits was able to see through it and get behind us, taking down Jaeger in the process with a sledgehammer.

The whole base has been pretty active recently, with the departure of a handful of operatives to Nighthaven it's been hectic with Harry and Sam trying to fill in the blanks. Not only them but the CTUs where the operatives came from also seem to be in slight disarray, some better than others. Only adding salt onto the wound with the Indonesia event still relatively fresh in some of our minds it only added more questions than answers as to why they would leave. I want to say that information regarding the attack was withheld from them, or something along those lines. Everyone has their reasons for leaving, but it was my business when they chose to join the PMC that actively tried to kill me and Nokk for nearly two weeks straight.

"Times up." Sam echoed from above, I panted and pulled down my mask as the man himself entered from a supply door nearby I switched the safety on and let the rifle hang from its sling. He talked to the recruits, giving his speech about being prepared for the unknown and that Rainbow was a whole different level. Sending everyone else back to the lockers, he turned back to me. "How's it feel kid, anything I should report to R&D?"

"First off, I'm a thirty-year-old man. Second, nothing too bad from what I can tell, though the extended mag is a need more than a recommendation," I explained, emptying the chamber before handing it over to Sam. "But besides that, it's been pretty reliable. Minimal jams and overheating."

"Good to hear," Sam nodded as he tossed the rifle tightly, feeling the weight of it before handing it back to me. "Because this is your new rifle."

"What?"

"It's your new rifle, you're gonna need it," Sam explained and motioned for me to walk with him. I followed him out of the Killhouse and watched the recruits mingle amongst themselves. "I know you've seen it, things are changing Ethan, trust is at an all-time low since Nighthaven's departure from Rainbow."
