When I woke up again, I was already on the operating table. The doctor, cold and detached, said, "The baby's gone. We're performing a curettage now. Miss Gomez, prepare yourself."

After the procedure, I called him. He said he was busy, working on an important deal. Broken and desolate, I insisted on seeing him. He stormed into the hospital, not showing a hint of concern, only disdain. "Ruby, when are you going to stop causing trouble?"

I swallowed back the words about our lost child. I looked at his still-handsome face, the same one that had once been so kind but now seemed monstrous.

"What are you staring at? Is this the 'surgery' you were talking about? What surgery did you even have?"

The pain in my abdomen felt like knives twisting, and I was in agony. Facing his accusations, I thought of Zoey's words. There is no greater sorrow than a heart that has died. I didn't want to explain anything anymore. All I felt was an overwhelming sense of hatred.

I'd already suggested ending the engagement; he was free to be with anyone he wanted. It was him who insisted on keeping us together, promising never to see Zoey again. If I had walked away then, I wouldn't have ended up pregnant. He could hurt me, but why drag my innocent child into it?

I gripped the bedsheet tightly, tears uncontrollably streaming down my face. When he saw my pale face and the cold sweat beading on my forehead from the pain, he finally realized something was wrong.

"Ruby, are you okay?"

In the past, I might have argued, but now, all I could think about was my overwhelming hatred. What did I do to deserve this—to let him and Zoey trample all over me? Why did my innocent child have to become a pawn in their twisted game?

"From love springs sorrow, from love springs fear." Now, I've crawled out of hell as a vengeful spirit, determined to make them pay dearly, to honor my lost child.

I was admitted to the hospital. For Zoeyto act so brazenly, she must have prepared everything in advance. Even if I spoke the truth, she'd just pull out her fabricated "evidence" to discredit me. If only Micahbelieved in me, he'd find out the truth. But all he cares about now is Zoey. She knows he won't dig deeper and only listens to her side, so she's been taking advantage of that. I've experienced her schemes plenty of times before.

This time, I won't be fooled.

I know she's doing all this to make me give up and cancel the engagement so she can rightfully take my place. But I won't give her that satisfaction. I buried the pain of losing my child deep inside. This is my trump card. Only when everyone sees Zoey's true colors will my miscarriage become a bombshell revelation. Otherwise, it'll just be like before, with Zoey spinning the story, making big issues small and small ones disappear, barely a slap on the wrist.

Seeing me cry nonstop, Micah panicked.

"Stop crying. Are you upset because I haven't visited you? I've been busy with a big project."

It seemed, despite his feelings for Zoey, he couldn't entirely let go of our years together.

"Micah, I had a dream that you didn't love me anymore. I'm so scared."

"Shhh, don't overthink it. How could I not love you?"

Zoey thought I'd take this chance to cause a scene with Micah, certain that the wedding would be off. She timed her entrance perfectly to watch me make a fool of myself, only to find me and Micah holding each other close, and her face turned pale.

From that day, I changed. I was determined to catch Micah and Zoey in their affair. Zoey had tried every trick, but the closest she'd gotten was a kiss with Micah—he hadn't crossed that final line with her yet. But even this was enough for her to taunt me. She'd send me suggestive photos and chat logs, only to delete them afterward, not knowing I'd already screenshotted and saved everything.

I'm setting the stage for a grand reveal. At our wedding, I'll expose everything about her and Micah Shark.
