The soft glow of dawn began to creep through the trees, casting long, golden shadows across the forest floor. The group was finally nearing the pack's den, the familiar sight of the towering rock formations in the distance offering some much-needed relief. Despite the safety of home being close, there was an undeniable tension in the air, a storm brewing that none of them could ignore.

Jimin was quiet as they walked, his eyes flickering over to Yoongi, who had maintained his distance since the fight. It wasn't the physical distance that bothered Jimin, but the emotional wall Yoongi seemed to have built between them. He could feel Yoongi's presence, protective as always, but now it felt colder, more guarded.Taemin had been trying to keep the conversation light on the way back, making jokes and recounting old stories, but even he could sense something was off. After their run-in with the rival pack, it was as if an invisible line had been drawn between Yoongi and Jimin, and Taemin found himself caught awkwardly in the middle.

As they reached the den, Yoongi gave a curt nod to the others, signaling that he would take the first watch. His movements were rigid, his expression distant."I'll go with you," Jimin offered, stepping forward. He wasn't going to let this tension continue. They needed to talk, now more than ever.Yoongi looked at him, the fatigue evident in his eyes, but he shook his head. "No, I've got it. You should rest."Jimin's brow furrowed, his chest tightening at the rejection. "Yoongi...""Not now," Yoongi cut him off, his voice sharp, but not unkind. He turned on his heel and walked away, his posture stiff as he disappeared into the trees.Jimin stood there for a moment, feeling the weight of Yoongi's words settle over him like a cold blanket. He knew something had shifted between them, but he couldn't quite understand why Yoongi was pulling away. It wasn't just jealousy—it was something deeper, something Yoongi refused to let him see.

Taemin placed a hand on Jimin's shoulder, pulling him out of his thoughts. "Hey, don't take it personally. Yoongi's got a lot on his mind. He's just looking out for you.""I know," Jimin murmured, running a hand through his hair. "But I can't shake the feeling that there's more going on. He's never been this distant before.""Give him time," Taemin said, his tone gentle but understanding. "He'll come around. Yoongi cares about you more than you realize."Jimin nodded, though his heart still ached with uncertainty. "I hope you're right."
Later in the evening ,as the rest of the pack settled in, the tension from the earlier encounter lingered like a shadow, but exhaustion slowly began to take over. Jimin, restless and uneasy, decided to take a walk around the perimeter of their territory, hoping the fresh air might clear his mind.As he moved through the dense trees, his thoughts kept drifting back to Yoongi. They had been through so much together, their bond forged through battles, struggles, and shared moments. But this felt different—this distance felt like a wedge being driven between them, and Jimin wasn't sure how to close the gap.The scent of rain hung heavy in the air, signaling an impending storm. Jimin paused, tilting his head up to the sky as the first drops of rain began to fall. It was almost symbolic, the brewing storm reflecting the turbulence inside him.Suddenly, he heard footsteps approaching, soft but unmistakable. Turning, Jimin saw Taemin walking toward him, his usual bright demeanor tempered by the somber atmosphere."Can't sleep either?" Taemin asked, offering a small smile.Jimin shook his head. "Too much on my mind, I guess."Taemin nodded, stepping closer. "It's been a rough night. That rival pack... I didn't expect them to show up like that.""Neither did I," Jimin replied, though his mind was still preoccupied with Yoongi. "Things just feel off lately. Like everything's changing, and I don't know how to keep up."Taemin studied him for a moment before speaking. "You and Yoongi... you've always been close. But I can see that something's bothering him. I don't want to pry, but if you need to talk, I'm here."

Jimin appreciated Taemin's offer, but he wasn't sure how to explain the complexities of his relationship with Yoongi. They had never openly discussed their feelings—there had never been a need. Until now."I don't know what's going on with him," Jimin admitted, his voice quiet. "I just... I wish he would talk to me instead of shutting me out."Taemin sighed, rubbing the back of his neck. "Yoongi's not exactly the open-book type, is he? But I've seen the way he looks at you, Jimin. Whatever's going on, it's not about you. It's something he's dealing with, and I think he's just scared to let you in."Jimin looked at Taemin, surprised by the depth of his insight. "Scared? Yoongi's not afraid of anything.""Not on the surface," Taemin agreed. "But when it comes to you? Maybe he's afraid of losing something important."

The words hit Jimin like a wave, the realization sinking in. Maybe that was it. Maybe Yoongi wasn't pulling away because he didn't care, but because he cared too much. And the fear of losing Jimin, of things changing between them, was too overwhelming for him to face.Jimin opened his mouth to respond, but before he could say anything, a familiar presence interrupted them.

Yoongi emerged from the shadows, his face unreadable but his eyes focused solely on Jimin. "Jimin," Yoongi said, his voice low but firm. "We need to talk."Taemin glanced between them, sensing the weight of the moment. "I'll leave you two to it," he said quietly, giving Jimin a reassuring nod before retreating into the forest.Once they were alone, Jimin turned to Yoongi, his heart pounding in his chest. The rain had begun to fall harder now, the droplets soaking through their clothes, but neither of them seemed to notice.

"Yoongi," Jimin started, but Yoongi raised a hand, stopping him."Just listen," Yoongi said, his voice raw. "I've been thinking, and I know I've been distant. I know you're confused, and I'm sorry for that. But I need you to understand something."Jimin nodded, his heart aching as he waited for Yoongi to continue."I've always been able to protect you, to keep you safe," Yoongi continued, his gaze intense. "But lately, I've realized that there are things I can't control. Things that could hurt you. And it terrifies me."

Jimin's breath caught in his throat. "Yoongi, you don't have to—""I do," Yoongi interrupted, his voice breaking slightly. "I've been pushing you away because I thought it would make it easier. But it's only made things worse. Because the truth is, Jimin, I care about you more than I've ever cared about anyone. And the thought of losing you—of someone else taking your place in my life—it kills me."Jimin felt tears prick at the corners of his eyes, the weight of Yoongi's words crashing over him like a tidal wave. He had always known there was something deeper between them, but hearing Yoongi admit it so openly, so vulnerably, was overwhelming."You won't lose me, Yoongi," Jimin whispered, stepping closer. "I'm right here. I've always been here."Yoongi's expression softened, the storm inside him beginning to calm as he looked at Jimin. "I don't want to keep running from this. From us. But I don't know how to protect you from everything out there. From what's coming."Jimin reached out, his hand gently resting on Yoongi's arm. "We'll face it together. Whatever happens, we'll deal with it. But don't shut me out."Yoongi let out a shaky breath, nodding as he finally allowed himself to relax into Jimin's touch. "I won't. I promise."

They stood there for a moment, the rain falling around them, but it didn't matter. For the first time in days, the tension between them began to ease, replaced by an understanding that they would face whatever challenges lay ahead together. But as they turned to head back to the den, a distant howl echoed through the forest once more—a reminder that the storm wasn't over yet. And as they exchanged a glance, they knew that the real battle was just beginning.
