After everyone left the hall, Iyaan stormed into his room, still furious. Deep in thought, he sat there until someone suddenly opened the door it was his mother.
He looked up and saw her walking inside.
"Kya hua Iyaan beta, khana toh khaa lo," Iyaan's mother said gently.
["What happened, Iyaan? At least eat something."]
"Ammi, aap Armaan ko samjha dein ke woh Innara se door rahe," Iyaan replied.
["Ammi, tell Armaan to stay away from Innara, not to be friends with her."]
"Innara? Woh bichari bacchi kya karegi?" his mother responded lovingly.
["Innara? She's just a poor kid. What can she do?"]
"Bacchi nahi woh, sirf sar dard hai! Khud toh padhti nahi, Armaan ko bhi bigaada hua hai. Ab itne gande grades ke saath usse kaun admission dega?" Iyaan fumed.
["She's not a kid, she's a headache! She doesn't study and she's ruined Armaan too. Now with these terrible grades, who's going to give him admission into a good college?"]
Iyaan's anger flared.
He had never liked Innara since childhood.
Iyaan's mother, however, adored Innara like a daughter, as she had always dreamt of having one. Since Innara was her brother-in-law's daughter, she saw her as a way to fulfill that dream.
"Accha, thik hai baba, main samjhaungi. Par tum khana khane aa jao," his mother said, gently touching his face.
["Okay, fine, I'll talk to her. But please come out and eat something. I'm waiting."]

The next day...
"Iyaan, kya tum Innara ko bhi padha doge?" Chachi asked.
["Iyaan, would you help Innara with her studies?"]
Iyaan didn't want to, but he couldn't say no to Chachi.
"Haan, padha dunga, par woh badtameezi nahi karegi toh," Iyaan replied grudgingly.
["Yes, I will, but only if she behaves."]

After studying for five hours, Innara was exhausted. She collapsed onto Iyaan's bed and fell asleep.
Iyaan had stepped out of his room for work, and when he returned, he found her there, fast asleep.
Iyaan quickly dragged his pillow and blanket away from Innara in a hurry, worried she might dirty his bed since she hadn't bathed for days.
Innara didn't move an inch, sleeping peacefully.
"Innara, utho! Yeh kya, tum mere bed par so ayi? Badtameez ladki!"
["Innara, get up! Why are you sleeping on my bed, you mannerless girl!"]
Iyaan said aggressively.
Innara opened her eyes, looked at him startled, and silently went to her room.
Iyaan was left in shock. Innara had never listened to anyone in her life-she was lazy and careless.
Her quiet obedience surprised him.
