It was the month of Ramzaan, and Innara and Armaan had fasted together. Ramzaan is the holy month for Muslims. Innara was a foodie girl, and she was very happy during this month because she would get a chance to enjoy fast food all month long. Innara and Armaan went out for Iftari at their favorite restaurant with her father. They did a lot of shopping together as well.

[For those who don't know what Iftari is:
Iftari is the time when Muslims break their fast after 15 to 16 hours of fasting. We wake up in the middle of the night around 3 o'clock, which we call Suhoor. After fasting all day, we eat at 7 o'clock in the evening.]

As the month of Ramzaan was coming to an end, Iyaan's mother wanted him to get married as soon as possible. She was very concerned about him and was looking for girls for Iyaan. Finally, she liked a girl named Zoya and was eager to ask Iyaan about it. She sent a proposal to zoya's house, and they agreed.

"Iyaan beta, zara baat sunna."

["Iyaan, son, listen to me."]
Ammi called out to him.

Iyaan was busy doing office work on his laptop and simply replied, "Hmmm."

"Maine tumhare liye ek ladki pasand ki hai."

["I have liked a girl for you."]
Ammi showed him zoya's picture.

Iyaan didn't look at her or the picture, he was fully focused on his work.

"Iyaan, yeh kya badtameezi hai?"

["Iyaan, why aren't you listening to me?"]
Ammi said, staring at him with frustration.

"Arey, kya hua Ammi? Kyun aise dekh rahi ho mujhe?"

["What happened, Mom? Why are you looking at me like this?"] He said, finally looking up.

"Maine tumse kuch pucha hai?"

["I asked you something."]
Ammi scolded him.

"Ammi, aapne pasand ki hai toh acchi hi hogi. Waise bhi meri kon sunta hai yahan?"
["Mom, if you liked a girl, she must be good. Otherwise, who cares about me?"]
Iyaan replied rudely and went to his room.

"Sharma gaya mera baccha. Zoya acchi hai."
["My son is just shy. Zoya is perfect for him."]
Ammi said to herself, smiling with joy.

Iyaan's engagement was fixed to be held on Eid day, and the Nikkah was planned for after Eid. Iyaan's mother was busy preparing for the upcoming functions.

Innara came back from school with Armaan. It was raining outside.

"Anaab, itni der kyun ho gayi tumhe ghar aane mein?"

["Innara, why are you so late in coming home?"] Her mother asked, coming out of the kitchen when she heard the doorbell.

"Aur yeh kya, tumhare kapde kyun gande hain?"

["And what's this? Why are your clothes dirty?"] Her mother stared at her white uniform, which was now muddy.

"Woh Armaan ke bacche ne mujhpar khichad uchhal diya. Chhodungi nahi!"

["That Armaan kid splashed mud on me. I won't let it go!"] Innara said, throwing her bag on the sofa and yelling.

"Accha baba, mat chhodna. Abhi tum jaldi kapde change karke table par aa jao."

["Okay, fine, don't let it go. But hurry up and change your clothes, then come to the table."] Her mother replied and went back to the kitchen.

Innara father was on holiday. Innara's mother was talking with her father after lunch.

When Innara came out after changing, she heard them talking.

"Bhabhi ne Iyaan ka rishta tay kar diya hai."
["Your aunt has fixed Iyaan's engagement."] Innara's mother said.

"Haan toh yeh toh acchi baat hai. Waise bhi, MashaAllah se humara Iyaan hoshiyar ho gaya hai."

["Well, that's a good thing. Besides, MashaAllah, our Iyaan has become quite smart."] Chachu said while reading the newspaper.

"Haan, rishta toh accha hai, par..."
["Yes, the match is good, but..."] Her mother said after thinking for a moment.

"Haan, bolo begum, kya baat hai?"
["Yes, tell me, what's the matter?"] Her father said, smiling.

"Woh mujhe Iyaan bachpan se Innara ke liye pasand tha."
["I've liked Iyaan for Innara since childhood."] Her mother shared her wish.

"Yeh kya baat kar rahi hai, begum aap?"
["What are you talking about, my dear?"] Chachu asked in shock.

"MashaAllah se Iyaan ek hoshiyar bachha hai aur humari Innara toh abhi na samajhdar aur shararti hai. In dono ka bhala kya jod?"

["MashaAllah, Iyaan is a smart boy, and our Innara is still immature and mischievous. What good would they be together?"] Her father remarked.

"Accha, par maine hamesha se Innara ke liye Iyaan ko socha hai. Bas apni khwahish bata rahi thi, baaki aapki marzi."

["Well, I've always thought of Iyaan for Innara. I was just sharing my wish; the rest is up to you."] Her mother explained.
