The next morning we met at the tavern with Lunim, waiting for the king to come forward to declare the next attack. We waited a little less than an hour, then, seeing all the citizens rush to the square, we also go.
The king’s substitute was the usual trusted subordinate.
«Dear Avalorians, his majesty is delighted to welcome you once again before him. Let your worth be felt.»
«Avaloria, Husc!» The sheep shouted. I had not yet understood who bothered me more, that submissive people or that submissive king.
«The results of the military campaign in the border of Cromelia and the guidelines for the next battle will be announced by his majesty himself.» The guard bowed down, then backed away to make room for the monarch. I spare the flattery. What was important at the time, was to hear the expansionist achievements:
«The last military campaign was a success. We lost most of our army, but we managed to subdue Cromelia, and with it the 5,000 soldiers not sent into battle. So, what we have now is an army of 31,000 warriors plus the territories of Cromelia and Avaloria. From today, there are five fractions. Glory to Avaloria!» Said the king, feeling like a mortal god.
«Avaloria, Husc!» He got the answer.
Looking at Lunim, I thought. We had not seen it until the end of the battle. There were still soldiers, and when they came out victorious, they marched to Cromelia. This, knowing the great number of remaining Avalorian warriors, surrendered to his power. In conclusion, we had only achieved a halving of the army of Avaloria...
«Avalorians, my descendants. We have already made a great step forward. There are only three other nations left on the continent of Aostra. As you know, Triosa is allied with Shiitia.
The next campaign is in two days, the army is already on its way! Our next goal is the conquest of Elandria.» The king ended unexpectedly.
We could hear the noise from the audience:
«Elandria? But isn’t it too far away?»
«Do we have so much resources?»
«Is there not a risk of having an attack from Shiitia and Triosa in prevention?»
In fact, that’s what we thought. We had assumed that, despite being more dangerous, the next target would be Triosa, because was closer. Avaloria would have had the resources to get there in just two days? Before he left, I saw the king talking to one of his subordinates; he nodded, apparently was looking at me, then he made a sign, raising his arm. So another subordinate came up, hidden in the crowd, touching my shoulder he said:
«Wait here, Goldora.»
