Chapter 2

"So that's why we have a words with ..." That's when I tune out. Mrs. Talbot, my English teacher talked on as I zoned out. I was bored. Beyond bored. Tylia poked my back, I ignored her. Tylia was my sisters friend. African American, chubby, loud, rude, funny, and just plain annoying. I mean, she was OK sometimes, but I wasn't a fan of her.

My teacher drowned on, I thought I was gonna fall asleep. Really I did. But, then the bell rang, I let out a relived sigh, I didn't need to get in trouble for sleeping in class. That was Olivia's job.

I hurried out of the room, Tylia and Olivia on my heels, we all had French next. "Wait for me!" Tylia said, me and Olivia had already gotten out French binder and were ready to go. Sighing, we steeped to the side to wait.

When she was finally done, we hurried down the stairs, not wanting to be late. But, of course, we arrived 2 minutes after the 2 bell rang. But, since we have a super nice teacher, he let us in with no trouble. The rest of the class was already there, I looked on the boarded and groaned. Note taking. I pulled out a sheet of paper and began to write foods in French.

Class dragged on, when I had finished my notes, Olivia and I began to argue. Like we always do. "Hallie, that's not how you write croissant." Olivia pointed out. Olivia was tall, tons of freckles, and reddish, copper hair. She acted like she was 18 instead of 12. "Whatever, Olivia, do what ya wanna do." I said, dismissing her with my hand. She just huffed and rolled her eyes. We were, part time friends, part time enemies. Frenimes. "Ok, projects due today, turn them in before you leave!" Mr. S yelled as the bell rang. We all hurried to his desk and threw our French essays in a pile.

Next was lunch. As I left the room, heading to lunch with the rest of the 6th grade, I spotted Sam in the crowd. Time for revenge. Sneakily, I snuck up behind him and kicked his leg. Unfortunately, the fact that I can't kick and his leg was moving because he was walking, didn't help. I missed, I hit the hem of his pants but not his leg. "Oops" I said anyway when he turned around "you didn't even kick me!" He argued, "ah, ya I did." I lied, shrugging. "Wow Hallie, you can't even kick." He said, clucking his tongue and shaking his head. I just rolled my eyes and hurried into line for food. He is so annoying.

When I had my food, I rushed across the cafeteria to our table, everyone was already there so I assumed my spot next to sophia, across from sayer. "Sam's an idiot." I mumbled, biting into my burger. "Mmm true dat." Kylie agreed. "You know he likes you." Sophie said, twisting her milk cap. I almost chocked. "Ya right." I said sarcastically, we hated each other. "He does, remember when we were on the bus to camp last Sumer?" Sophie asked, I did. Last summer we had gone to camp for a week, without the knowledge Sam and his cousin went there, and were on our bus to get there. "Ya, I remember." I mumbled, not sure where she was going with this. "Well, when we were on the bus, you and Sam were arguing of course, then all the sudden Sam turned around and him and his cousin started whispering?" She asked, I nodded. By now the whole table was listening to the story. "Well,Well after the'd finished talking and you guys began arguing again, remember how the cousin said something to me?" She asked again, I nodded "ya, what'd he say?" I asked. Sophie smiled "these were his exact words; 'he so likes her'." She told me. I frowned as the table burst into questions. I didn't believe her, that was impossible. There's no way he would like me or I would like him, besides, he had told me he liked Lilly last year on the bus, hadn't he? Yes, she must be joking.... Right? Yes, she is. "Your joking." I told her with confidence. The table froze, all eyes on me. "No, I'm not." She argued back "I believe her, it's obvious he likes you." Sayer said, shrugging, I glared at her. "Ya, I believe her too." Sophia added "same" Kylie said. I scowled, can't they see it isn't true? Popular guys don't fall for misfits. Misfits don't fall for jerks."I still don't believe you." I muttered, picking up my burger. Sophie shrugged "fine, don't believe me, but it's true." She said again. The table returned to somewhat normal conversations. I stayed quite, lost in thought. I knew it couldn't be true. I know this.

Wow, phew that was work. I know it was short, sorry! So, what do you think? Does Sam like Hallie or is it all a lie? Vote and comment!
