The two of them had been exchanging texts back and forth since that day. Usually about classes or how loud Morgan snores. Or how annoying Ruby was during her period. Can't really blame her though. It had been three days since they last saw each other. School and personal life making it difficult to see each other, but at least they could text. Kylie was in the middle of a text when she bumps into someone. "Oh, I'm so sorry. I wasn't paying attention." She looks up and freezes. "Ky, hey, I've been trying to call you." "Don't." Her face hardens. "You don't get to call me that anymore. Get out of here, Matt." "Wait!" He grabs her arm before she flinches and pulls away. "I'm sorry. I'm sorry, i shouldn't have. I just wanna talk, please?" He begs. Malia rounds the corner and stops when she sees Kylie talking to someone. She could sense the tension between the two but she didn't wanna assume anything yet.
"There's nothing to talk about Matt. Now get out of here." Kylie grabs her things. He places his hand on hers and stops her. Malia is quick to react this time, making her way towards them. "I have plenty to say." He glares at her. "Well, I don't. And i know you do, you said enough when you were moaning that girl's name." "Come on, don't be like that." "Kylie-boo!" Malia shouts as she walks over to them. Kylie looks up and notices that everyone is now staring at them. Malia walks over and hugs Kylie tightly. "Is he bothering you?" She whispered. "Yeah, i missed you too, Malia-baby!" Kylie smiles. That was all the answer she needed. Her demeanor changes in an instant. "Can i help you?" She turns towards him. "Um, yeah, we were kinda in the middle of a conversation, co-" "Didn't look like that to me, looked like you were harassing her." They have now drawn a crowd. Matt grinds his teeth before glaring at Kylie. "This isn't over." He mumbles before he leaves.
Kylie lets out a breath she didn't know she was holding in. "Thank you, Malia. Seriously." She hugs her again. "Anytime. Dare i ask what that was about?" She mumbles. Kylie sighs. "You might wanna sit down." They both walk over to Kylie's previous table and both sit. "Was he an ex?" Kylie nods. "Yeah, we broke up a while ago. I came to visit him at his school, as a surprise, and i found him cheating on me." Malia grabs her hand. "Oh Kylie, I'm so sorry. You didn't deserve that. And honestly, it's his loss. You're better off without him. He didn't deserve you." Kylie squeezes her hand. "Thank you. I appreciate it. To be honest, it's probably my own fault. I refused to sleep with him so i guess he went and found someone else. Or someone's. Turns out there were multiple people." She sighs. Malia tugs on her hand, making Kylie look up at her. "Hey, that's all on him. Don't you dare think for a second that it had anything to do with you. Just because you wouldn't have sex with him? That's pathetic. And frankly, so high school." Malia scoffs.
"There's um, there's more...." She sighs. Malia looks at her. "What is it?" Kylie starts bouncing her leg. "I went over to his place one time, it was the summer before i came here. We were just watching a movie, i ended up falling asleep cause finals were a bitch. We were just cuddling on the couch. And i woke up and his hand was....it was...." Malia squeezes her hand. "Stop. I don't need to know. You can tell me when you're ready." Kylie lets out a shaky breath. She smiles slightly. "Thank you." She whispered. Malia smiles and nods. "What do you say we get out of here for a bit?" Kylie smiles and Malia swears the world stopped. "And go where?" "It's a surprise." As they walked to Malia's car, it became clear to her, she wanted to protect Kylie. Whatever it took. She seems to put on a cool, carefree character but it seemed like more lurked beneath that facade. And Malia was determined to find out.
