The day dragged on for both of them. Both were anxious about tonight. Mel and Ruby were getting ready to go out when there was a knock on the door. "Ooh, is that Miss. Malia?" Mel smirks. "Hmm i think it is." Ruby smiles as she goes to the front door. Kylie rolls her eyes as Ruby opens it. "Oh why hello Malia!" She smiles. "Mel and i were just about to head out now. So don't mind us." She lets her in before she grabs her purse. "Ready?" She asks her girlfriend. Mel grabs her keys and nods. "Let's go." They hold hands as they walk out. "Don't do anything i wouldn't do!" Mel smirks. "Use protection!" Ruby shouts before the door shuts.
Kylie blushes as she hears the door lock. Malia laughs as she turns back to her. "Well, they're certainly an interesting couple." "You could say that." They both laugh. "So, while they're going out, we're staying in. Did you wanna watch some Netflix or Disney?" "You choose." Kylie opened Netflix and handed her the remote. "Here, pick whatever you want. I'll go make us some popcorn." Kylie heads to the kitchen and starts heating up popcorn in the microwave. She grabs two cups and opens the fridge. "Did you want some juice? Soda? Water?" Malia settles on something random, pausing it before it actually plays. "I'll just take water." She walks over and sits at the kitchen counter. Kylie smiles at her. "So, tell me more about yourself. I feel like i barely know you." She sets the water on the counter, which Malia happily takes. "Um, i have a younger sister. Her name is Ivory. She's younger than me by like a year or two? My mom is a single mom, she and my dad divorced years ago, she got custody of both of us. He does visit every once in a while but with me now going to college, I'll probably see him less and less." She smiles sadly. "I'm sorry, Malia." She holds her hand. "It's ok, it is what it is, you know? What about you?"
"Well, I'm an only child. I used to be sad about that, seeing other kids play with their siblings, but then i met Ruby, and her three siblings, she's the second oldest, and then i definitely felt better about being an only child." Kylie laughs. Malia laughs as she shakes her head. "Yeah, trust me, you aren't missing much. I mean, it's nice to know that i can count on Ivory if i ever need her for anything. It's nice to have someone who understands me. Not that you don't, but like on a different level. You know what I mean?" Kylie nods. "I get it. No one knows how crazy your parents are like your siblings cause they're also their parents too." Malia nods. "Exactly."
The popcorn stops popping so Kylie takes it out of the microwave and pours it into a bowl. They both walk to the couch and sit down. "So, what are we watching?" "I have no idea." They settle on some random movie, neither of them really paying attention, it mostly just them talking. "Oh god, don't even get me started, that essay was a nightmare." Kylie grabs her drink. "I mean, who wou-" it slips from her hand and lands in her lap. She quickly picks up the cup and places it back on the table. "Whoa! You ok?" Malia quickly stands and grabs some napkins. She hands a couple to Kylie, who tries to soak up the water as best as she can. Malia helps her before they toss all the wet napkins in the trash. "Well, at least it was just water." She shrugs. Kylie sighs. "Tell that to Ruby. I mean, Mel won't care, like you said it's just water, but Ruby...." Kylie looks around. "Um, you can sit closer to me if you want? That way we're not talking to each other from across the room." It's true, all Kylie had was a couch and the stool at the kitchen counter, her, Ruby and Mel have been meaning to get more chairs or loveseats but money has been tight lately. "Um, i guess I'll just sit next to you." She goes and sits closer to Malia, their knees touching.
Every once in a while, Kylie would feel her lower back touching the wet spot behind her. She quickly sits forward, but there's only so much room on their tiny couch. "Um, you could sit on my lap, if you want?" Malia offers. Kylie shakes her head. "It's ok, really." "No, i insist. Really, it's fine. You seem uncomfortable sitting in the tiny area that's dry." Kylie sighs before standing up and sitting on her lap. "I'm not crushing you or anything, am i?" She asks her. Malia laughs and shakes her head. "No, i promise. You're good." They decide to finally pay attention to the movie. Kylie is now sitting in between Malia's legs, cause she insisted that she was crushing her legs, even though Malia told her she wasn't. Malia lifts her hand to brush a strand out of her face. She casually places her arm back on her leg, the movement so normal, she almost didn't notice Kylie's tense. Almost. "You ok?" She asks. "Yeah, I'm fine." "You sure?" She looks at her. Kylie turns her head and they lock eyes. "Yeah, I'm ok." She nods.
Am i making her nervous? Malia thought. Is this cause she thinks I'm gonna make a move? Should i? Is she waiting for me to? They turn their heads back to the screen before Malia slowly moves her hand up. Her other hand finds its way around Kylie's waist. She tenses again, causing Malia to freeze. The tension in the air was thick. Once Kylie relaxes again, Malia slips her hand that was on Kylie's waist under her shirt. Kylie starts breathing heavily. Malia notices her change in breathing and pauses. "Is this ok?" She asks. Kylie doesn't answer but she's still breathing heavily. Malia scoots closer so she can look at her face. Maybe her facial expression will give her an answer. And it definitely did. Kylie was having a panic attack. She quickly retracts her hands and moves Kylie off her lap. She sits her on the couch and crouches down in front of her. "Kylie? Hey, hey Kylie. It's ok, I'm sorry. I didn't know. Ok? I'm sorry." She grabs both her hands and places them on her heart. "Breathe. Just focus on the beat of my heart. Try and match it with yours. Breathe. Calm down."
The front door opens as the young couple laugh as they enter. "What happened?!" Ruby shouts as they both run to Kylie. "I-i don't know. One second we were watching a movie and then she was having a panic attack." "Ky, look at me. Match my breathing." Mel instructs her. "What's that?" Ruby points to the couch. "She spilled a drink, so she sat on my lap." "Sideways?" Mel looks at her. "Facing forward, we were watching a movie. What's wrong?" Ruby and Mel share a look before Mel picks Kylie up and brings her to her room." "Malia, i think you should probably leave." Ruby mumbles. "What? No! Look, I'm sorry. I didn't mean for this to happen, just let me talk to her at least?" Ruby shakes her head. "There is no talking to her when she's like this. And I don't know how long she'll be like this. Which is why I'm telling you to go back to your dorm and I'll call you when she's calm down. I'll find your number on her phone later." Malia begs. "Please, i just want to help." "Trust me, the last thing she wants is for you to see her like this." Ruby tells her. "I promise i will let you know when she's calmed down. I promise." Ruby swears. Malia sighs as she's torn between what to do. She wants to stay, she wants to make sure Kylie was ok, but another part says she should give her space for tonight. "You let me know the second she's calmed down?" Malia glares at her. "I promise." Ruby nods. Malia sighs. "Alright, please text me. And please let her know, I'm sorry." Ruby shakes her head. "It wasn't your fault. She probably didn't tell you. You didn't know." "Know what?" Ruby hesitates. "She has to tell you, Malia. That's not my place to say. I'm sorry." Malia nods. "I understand." She leaves and heads back to her dorm. Morgan was asleep, or maybe out with Tristan, she didn't know. She was just glad she wasn't here to ask her too many questions about tonight. Questions she didn't even know the answers to. What happened?
