Charlie watched as his daughter hummed softly while she made dinner. He felt his heart ache as he once again mourned over the moments in his daughter's life that he had missed. Lowering his head as tears ran down his cheeks. Visha stiffened as she smelt tears and quickly spun around. "Oh Papa," the girl sighed before hugging the man tightly. "It's okay, papa. It's okay." Charlie shook as he let out a loud sob, but Visha held on to him, gently rocking her father.
Unknown to the duo in the doorway, watching this scene was Isabella. The angry look on her face faded into a pale but blank expression. She had not cared much for her father, but her annoyance was evident. She was the youngest child and deserved to be the favourite. Yet Visha, the eldest but most unnatural child, had gained her father's adoration. She should have asked her mum to send Visha to the madhouse instead.
Visha, smelling Bella's jealous scent, let out a soft scoff. "Papa, Isabella is here. " Charlie looked up and saw his youngest. His biggest mistake in life was sleeping with Renee for a second time. Bella is proof of his bad decisions, always coming to bite him where it hurts. Rising to his feet, Charlie glared at Isabella. If looks could kill, she would be dead.
"What do you want, Isabella?" He hissed as the girl stepped back in fear, "I came for my things". There was a silence, and Charlie began to laugh. "What stuff I sold everything your disgusting hands touched." Visha snickered softly before returning to cooking their dinner.
She didn't expect Bella to ask, "Whose is she cooking for?" "None of your business as I said you're disowned, meaning you are not welcome."
Immediately after, he slammed the door in Bella's face. The girl blinked in surprise before walking over to Edward's car and getting in the passenger seat "Why does he hate me I did nothing wrong" Edward leaned forward and kissed her head "It's not your fault love, Charlie will eventually regret abandoning you". From inside the kitchen, Visha stopped and rolled her eyes.
Edward Masen had a bad habit of filling her sister's head with delusions, the girl watched as the car quickly sped off into the night before she finished cooking "Dad help me set the table" Charlie wasted no time in helping his daughter's eyes falling on the large dishes filled with delicious looking foods. "Did your adoptive parents teach you to cook?" he asked a bit nervously, as he had never asked much about the couple.
Visha glanced at the table and smiled. "Korean dishes, yes, but this is soul food. I had a friend from Atlanta. Her parents exposed her to their cultures, so she learned Jamaican and Nigerian recipes before incorporating more black American recipes." Visha seemed to be remembering a pleasant memory as she smiled brightly.
"Go wash up Dad, she will be here soon" Charlie nodded and dashed up the stairs to get ready for their guest while Visha made sure the table was set perfectly. "I hope she likes it" the gumiho mumbled before she quickly washed her hands and removed her apron. The house was clean and her dad had promised to try his best, so she wasn't too worried.
When Charlie came down, Visha watched in shock her father was only 40 and he had given most of his life to forks. Few saw how handsome he could be. "Do I look okay? " Charlie asked while awkwardly pulling at the sleeves of his black button-up. As usual, he had rolled up the sleeves and his hands now had moved to the deep pockets of his sweatpants.
Visha had a strong feeling she would not be able to stay home tonight. "You look good, Dad," she said. As soon as the words left her mouth, she heard a knock on the door. Visha happily rushed over, pulling the door open. "Hi, Cora," the girl exclaimed as he hugged the older woman.
Cora stood at five foot eight with deep brown eyes that always seemed to shine when she smiled. The beautiful African American woman was from the South and still had a strong accent to go with her sassy comments. As she entered the Swan home, Charlie nervously rubbed the back of his neck.
"I'm glad you could make it," he managed to blurt out before a light blush coated his cheeks. Visha watched the two with a large smile. "I hope you two enjoy dinner bye" As Visha practically raced out of the house Cora chuckled lowly "She hasn't changed much".
Charlie gazed at the woman and nodded before he stepped forward. "You're still in your coat," he whispered shyly, but stepped up to help her out of it. Cora, now sensing his shyness, stepped out of her coat. "Thank you, Charlie,".
Outside the house, Visha smiled. Her plan had gone well. She quickly noticed her father's crush on the curvy but bold woman and decided to help him out. However, she did not want to listen to their awkward and shy flirting. Looking up she smiled when Jasper finally arrived. "It seems they are getting along well," he joked.
Visha side-eyed him before giving him a cheeky smile as the vampire leaned down to kiss her softly before the two pulled away. The couple took their time and walked around the block. Visha softly sang, Everlasting. Jasper smiled, listening to the song. He did not understand the lyrics as they were mainly in another language.
However, something about the tune and how Visha smiled while singing it convinced him it was a nice song. "What song is that?" he asked, while bringing her hand to his lips. Visha eyed him with a small smile. "Everlasting by BoA. She is one of my favourite artists. My mum hated it, but my dad loved hearing me sing her songs."
There was a pause before Jasper asked, "About your adoptive parents. You have never mentioned them much. What were they like?" Visha smiled softly and stopped walking. "They were good people. My mother Seo-yeon was a pharmacist. She was a loving person and had a large heart. It was funny; she was the shortest person with the biggest voice. My father, Hyun-Woo, was well influential in his field." There was a pause that caused Jasper to raise his eyebrow.
Visha just smiled. "He was intelligent and calm, he was a good man and protector, he truly loves us". There was another pause before she corrected herself "Loved". Jasper nodded, and they walked around the block, exchanging stories. However, Jasper noticed how Visha stopped mentioning her adoptive parents.
He assumed it was all due to her wanting to focus on her father. Yet something did not sit right with him. As he walked her back to her home, the vampire placed a soft kiss on her head "Have a goodnight, Visha". Dark brown eyes briefly glowed silver as she nodded and slipped into the house, sneaking past her father and Cora, who were deep in conversation and into her room.
Visha, now alone, took out a photograph of her adoptive parents and smiled. "I miss you," was all she whispered before going to bed.
