Jahvi stood frozen in place, trembling as Torin Blackclaw loomed over him, the Alpha wolf’s eyes gleaming with barely contained aggression.
The hulking figure of the werewolf cast a long shadow over the small, jittery fairy. Jahvi’s whole from twitched uncontrollably, the fear radiating off him palpable.
"What is a light fairy supposed to do against an Alpha?" Kevon muttered under his breath as he walked toward his own opponent.
He spared a quick glance over his shoulder, watching Jahvi as the confrontation began. His gut twisted in a way he wasn’t used to. He didn’t usually care much for others, but Jahvi’s wide, terrified eyes stirred something deep inside him. He hoped the guy could at least stay on his feet.
That wish would not be granted as at that very moment when Torin lunged, something snapped inside Jahvi. Out of pure, instinctual fear, Jahvi’s body responded the only way it knew how. To transform.
His wings flared out, and a sudden burst of light exploded from him—a brilliant spectrum of colors radiated from his body like a diamond reflecting the sun's rays, blinding the Alpha wolf just as he was about to make contact.
Torin roared, stumbling back, his hands going to his eyes as he blinked furiously. The bright flash disoriented him, leaving him momentarily stunned.
For a brief moment, there was silence. The other shifters in the group had been watching intently, and now, as Torin stood there, blinking and growling in frustration, their laughter erupted through the air.
"Did you see that? A fairy just blinded him!" one of the wolves jeered, his voice laced with mockery.
"Careful, Torin, you might get beaten by a fairy next!" another taunted, howling with laughter.
The shifters around them laughed louder, their mocking voices carrying across the training grounds. The sound of their laughter made Torin's eyes narrow with rage. His hands balled into fists as he snarled at the humiliation. A low, guttural growl escaped his throat, the kind that sent shivers down the spine of anyone who heard it.
Kevon felt his stomach sink as he watched the scene unfold. He had seen that look on shifters’ faces before—that moment when reason gave way to primal instinct. Torin was no longer thinking, no longer playing by the rules of training. He had been embarrassed, and in the world of Alphas—to make them feel shame, that was unforgivable. He was about to do something reckless.
Jahvi, still blinded by his own fear, took a step back, his wings trembling as he realized what he had just done. His eyes darted from Torin to the instructor, Mr. Carrick, who was now shouting at them, trying to regain control of the situation.
"Blackclaw!" Carrick's voice boomed. "Stand down! It’s just training!"
But Torin wasn’t listening. His face contorted with fury, and in an instant, his body began to change. His bones shifted, muscles bulging as **fur sprouted across his skin**, claws and fangs extending in a brutal display of his true power. He let out a deep, thunderous growl as he shifted fully into his wolf form—a towering black wolf with glowing blue eyes, his teeth bared, saliva dripping from his maw.
Jahvi’s eyes went wide with terror as Torin lunged at him with deadly intent. The fairy’s instincts kicked in, and he darted into the air, his wings carrying him as fast as they could, but Torin was faster, leaping after him with frightening speed.
"Jahvi!" Kevon shouted, taking a step forward, but his own opponent, Leonardo, stood in his way, his pale eyes locking onto Kevon’s. There was no aggression in Leonardo’s gaze, but his stance was firm, silently warning Kevon not to interfere.
