"OOOOoooooH the kids are comin' the kids are comin'!" Will pranced around the tiny cabin, reading the list of names.
'Isabella Lopez

Mahek Singh
Charlie Canter
Alex Chase'
Silas was on the couch, sipping from a coffee mug. He had been sitting there staring off since he woke up this morning. Will kinda got the feeling he wasn't as exited as I was to meet the campers.
"Soooooo, mister grumpert, are ya comign with me to the den to get soem brekkie or ya just gonna sulk?" He asked, body hanging over the sofa, and falling onto it from behind.
"Nah I'll stay." Silas said back, stretching his arms. Will wished those arms would hold him- but pushed that thought away.
Some part of him was dissapointed- er actually most of him. He visibly slumped, hair seeming to lose it's shine.
"Okay. See ya, Stone."
Will walked out the cabin, breathing in the fresh air, nature always comforted him. From the way Silas always drew it, he guessed that was one of the few things they shared. The tall pine and oak trees had vast canopies here in the denser part of the forest where camp Raven was, there were small dapples of sunlight when it actually made it through, and it looked like little stars from a nightlight. Will remembered he used to use a nightlight like that when he was a kid. He had been terrified of the dark. Those had been good times, when the only thing he had to worry about were hypothetical monsters.
Sooner than he was ready, he was at the cafeteria. It was loud, because all the counselors were asking question about each other's campers. Silas hated noise, Will remembered for no reason at all.
He grabbed some cereal, poured in chocolate milk because all the real milk was gone, and sat down as Otter ran through ground rules again.
"No children by themselves, they must be in groups of at least three- accompanied by a counselor. Medics come by at 6 every morning to drop of prescription meds. Non prescription meds and rescue inhalers you guys will handle- but please don't let the kids have them, they will abuse them." Otter said, they looked tired, rubbing their temples as they gave the speech. "My camp rules are, trans campers must be in the same cabin section as their actual gender, not the one assigned at birth. Nonbinary campers get to chose. Also if any fights break out, it is you job to break them up. Punishment for fights will be avoided, but if the behavior is consitant contact me and I'll get it sorted. Breakfast is at 7, lunch at 12:30, dinner at 8. Breakfast is just the same cereal bar, cliff bars granola ect. For lunch the kids will have two options, and it will be delivered to the cabins. Dinner is here- buffet style. There will be cabin versus cabin games at the end of each week. Cool? Cool."
As Otter finished their speech, Will finished his cocoa puffs and put them in the bucket. He got up and walked to the pavillion to greet the kids. Silas- to his shock -was already there.
"Hey." Will greeted with a classic sunny grin. Silas smiled softly back.
"Hi." He turned around as a blue Venza came up. A boy with brown and blonde hair stepped out. He looked nervous, and his clothes looked to big for him.
He walked over, and Will greeted him.
"Heya, I'm Wilbur, nice to meetcha. Can you give me your name so I can see if you're with me?"
"A-Alex...Chase."
Will grinned.
"Awesome, first camper here and you're in my cabin. Welcome to Camp Juniper. I'm a counselor for Raven cabin- this is my co counselor, Silas. He's nice than he looks."
Silas outstretched a hand and Alex took it.
"Thanks for the uhm, welcome." Alex stuttered out, fiddling with something under his shirt.
Will didn't know what the hell was going on- he didn't even know something was happening, but Silas seemed to.
"You can go take it off. We don't judge here." He said, more gentle than Will had ever seen him.
The kid seemed shocked for about two seconds before a look of understanding crossed his face. Will still didn't know what the hell was going on. How does a kid understand better than me? He thought, but as the kid left to go to the bathroom, Silas turned to him.
"He's trans, you baffoon." Silas rolled his eyes. "That's like, half the point of this camp."
Oh.
Will smiled nervously and nodded.
"I've never met a trans person before." He admitted. Silas just snickered.
"You have."
What the hell did that mean? Will decided not to ask.
The next kid came, and it was for a different cabin, so they went off to a different table. It took a whole hour for every camp Raven camper to file in, and Will was exhausted. He leaned on Silas, and for once Silas didn't seem to mind much. Alex was leaning on a boy too- talking to him. Charlie. They seemed to be close, probably good friends.
Then they kissed. Will knew gay kids existed- he had once been a gay kid -but he for some reason short circuited at that. Silas had to snap him out of his little moment.
"Stop staring at kids, you're already enough of a creep."
Will laughed, Silas cracked a smile. He had a pretty smile. Shut up Will.
