The warmth of the sunrise began to creep over the rooftop, casting long shadows over the fallen sniper as Gekko and Iso stood there, still locked in the afterglow of their kiss. The world felt distant for just a few fleeting moments. The chaos of the battlefield, the dangers lurking around every corner, faded as the two of them remained in each other's arms.

Gekko slowly pulled back, his eyes searching Iso's face. There was a softness in Iso's expression now, a vulnerability he hadn't seen before. It was as if, for the first time, the tension that had weighed down on Iso was finally starting to lift.

"I meant what I said," Gekko whispered, his voice gentle but firm. "I'm not going anywhere, Iso."

Iso's gaze held his for a long time, like he was trying to make sense of everything that had happened. His hands were still resting on Gekko's waist, not wanting to let go. "You have no idea what that kiss means to me," Iso said quietly, his voice full of emotion he rarely let anyone hear. "I've been so scared of... losing control, of pushing you away. But I can't pretend anymore. I need you, Gekko. More than I thought I could ever need anyone."

Gekko felt his chest tighten at Iso's words. He leaned his forehead against Iso's, closing his eyes. "I know. And I'm here. We'll figure this out together, one step at a time."

Before they could say more, the comms crackled to life again, snapping them both back to the reality of the situation.

"Gekko! Iso! Where are you guys? We need to regroup now!" Phoenix's voice cut through the moment, urgency laced in his tone.

Gekko sighed, pulling back fully from Iso, though his hand lingered on Iso's arm, unwilling to completely let go. "We have to go."

Iso nodded, his face returning to the focused, sharp demeanor of a soldier. But there was a flicker of something different in his eyes—a quiet resolve that hadn't been there before. He grabbed his gear, holstering his weapons with quick efficiency. "Let's finish this."

As they made their way back down the building and toward the rendezvous point, Gekko couldn't help but feel the shift between them. It wasn't just the kiss—it was the understanding they had reached, the unspoken agreement that they would face whatever came next together.

The streets were eerily quiet as they approached the meeting spot, the tension in the air thick as they waited for the rest of the team. Phoenix and Jett were already there, eyes scanning the perimeter for any signs of movement. Sage arrived shortly after, her expression calm but alert as always.

"Alright," Phoenix began, his voice low as they huddled together. "We've got confirmation—there are more hostiles in the area, but they're regrouping. We've got a small window to hit them before they can strike back. This is our best chance to take them out and end this fight."

Jett nodded, flipping one of her knives between her fingers. "So what's the play?"

Phoenix pointed to the map spread out before them, marking the key locations of the enemy. "We split up. Iso, Gekko, you two take the eastern flank. Jett and I will go north, and Sage will hold the center and provide support. We'll pinch them in, surround them before they can regroup."

The plan was solid, but Gekko felt a pang of worry in his chest as Phoenix gave out the assignments. He and Iso had just found this fragile balance between them, and now they were being sent right back into the thick of it.

Iso caught the hesitation in Gekko's eyes and gave him a small, reassuring nod. "We've got this."

Gekko nodded back, swallowing his nerves. He trusted Iso, and more importantly, he trusted the bond they had forged. "Yeah, we do."

With their assignments in place, the team split off into their respective directions. The city streets were empty, the buildings looming high above them as Gekko and Iso moved silently along the eastern route. The sun was fully up now, casting long shadows and giving them some cover as they approached the enemy's position.

Every step felt heavy with anticipation. Gekko's heart raced, his senses heightened as they crept closer to the enemy stronghold. Iso moved just ahead of him, his every motion precise, like a predator stalking its prey.

Suddenly, Iso held up a hand, signaling for Gekko to stop. They crouched behind a stack of crates, peeking around the corner. Ahead, several armed hostiles were stationed, weapons at the ready. It was a small squad, but well-trained. This wasn't going to be easy.

Gekko's pulse quickened, but Iso's calm demeanor helped steady him. Iso glanced back at him, his voice low. "We'll take them out quickly. I'll draw their fire, you hit them from the side."

Gekko nodded. "Got it."

With a swift, silent motion, Iso moved. He darted out from cover, drawing the enemy's attention as gunfire erupted. Gekko waited for the right moment, his heart pounding in his ears as Iso engaged the hostiles, moving with deadly precision. Then, just as they were distracted, Gekko slipped around the side, flanking them.

He took out two of the enemies in quick succession, his movements sharp and efficient. The remaining hostiles were caught off guard, and Iso wasted no time finishing them off. In mere seconds, the area was clear.

Panting slightly, Gekko moved back to Iso's side. "That was... fast."

Iso smirked, a rare glimmer of amusement in his eyes. "Told you we've got this."

They moved quickly, continuing to clear the eastern side, taking down the remaining enemies with the same precision and teamwork. Each time they faced another group of hostiles, Gekko felt their bond grow stronger—each fight, each risk they took for each other reaffirmed their unspoken connection.

After what felt like hours of constant fighting, the comms crackled to life again. "All hostiles neutralized. Everyone regroup," Phoenix's voice echoed in their ears, relief clear in his tone.

Gekko exhaled slowly, finally allowing himself to relax. They had done it.

As they made their way back to the rendezvous point, Gekko felt the weight of the day's events settling over him, but it wasn't the same crushing fear that had haunted him before. Now, there was hope. He glanced at Iso, who was walking beside him, and felt a surge of warmth in his chest.

When they reached the meeting point, the team was waiting, victorious but weary. Phoenix gave them a nod, his usual grin back in place. "Nice work out there, guys."

Jett smirked, flipping a knife between her fingers. "We make a good team."

Gekko smiled, feeling Iso's presence beside him, solid and unwavering. They did make a good team—not just in battle, but in everything that came after.

As the team began to debrief, Gekko caught Iso's eye. There was a softness there, a quiet understanding that passed between them without words. They didn't need to say anything. They had faced the darkness together, and they had come out stronger for it.

And no matter what came next, they would face it side by side—together.
