"It's not enough to feel the lack. I want 'em back, I want 'em. You're the only friend I need (you're the only friend I need). Sharing beds like little kids (sharing beds like little kids)." – Ribs (Lorde)
Brittany Pierce wasn't usually the academic type, but she'd learnt quite a few things over the few weeks Addison Fabray had been tutoring her. She'd learnt that Addison Fabray had a dark freckle on her left cheek and a habit of drumming her fingers along flat surfaces when she was thinking, which was often. She learnt that Addison's favourite subject was chemistry and that she loved sandwiches, but only if they were cut into triangles. Brittany had learnt a couple school related things too, but she found those far less interesting.
"Are you actually listening, Brittany?" Addison asked, trailing off from her previous explanation about algebraic equations when she noticed the far off look returning to the blonde's eyes.
"Huh?" Brittany muttered in confusion, blinking out of her daydream and letting her eyes refocus on Addison who sighed softly.
"Why don't we take a break then?" Addison suggested as Brittany nodded eagerly at the idea, watching as the brunette rolled off the bed they'd been studying on. Addison stood, stretching slowly as her shirt rose ever so slightly, Brittany's eyes glued to the girl's every movement.
After a moment of silence, as Addison stretched out her stiff neck, the pair decided they needed food to continue studying and made their way to Brittany's kitchen as they dug through her cupboards for some snacks.
"Why don't you ever call me Britt?" the blonde questioned, tilting her head as Addison stopped rummaging through the pantry to turn to her in confusion.
"What do you mean?"
"You only ever call me Brittany, my friends usually call me Britt," Brittany clarified as she jumped to sit on the countertop of her kitchen.
"Oh," Addison said simply as she leant back onto the counter across from the blonde. She had enjoyed Brittany's company more than she thought she would, but Addison hadn't been sure if they were actually friends.
"I'm happy to call you Britt, if you'd like," Addison said carefully, glancing over at Brittany who nodded eagerly, "And you're welcome to call me Addie, if we're friends that is,"
"What about the second half of your name?" Brittany questioned after a moment, "Does it ever get sad when people don't use it?"
Addison, who had moved to grab an apple out of the fruit bowl beside Brittany, was so confused by the question that she momentarily froze in place. She slowly turned to the other girl, leaning against the counter beside her as she thought over the logic of the question.
"Does the second half of your name get sad when people don't use it?" Addison fired back and Brittany, seemingly prepared for such a question, was quick to shake her head in denial.
"That's the name Lord Tubbington uses on his fake IDs," she explained simply as Addison, once more, froze in slight disbelief.
"Ah," Addison muttered, blinking harshly, "Of course he does," she finished, finally reaching over for the apple, tossing it into the air a few times before walking to the sink to rinse it.
"So?" Brittany asked when Addison fell silent, taking a bite of her apple.
"Hmm?" Addison hummed in question, holding a hand over her mouth as she tried to quickly finish the bit of apple in her mouth to continue her conversation.
"So, does the rest of your name get sad that no one uses it?"
"I don't know,"
"I could use it," Brittany suggested, "So then it doesn't have to be sad,"
