Dakota Sanchez (2017)
I wiped my hand against the smooth, ironed blazer. The clothing was a perfect fit. Probably because they asked me what my size was before I came here.
"Dove," I shouted, "You can come in,"
Dove walked into the room, and seconds later Arianna and a girl did the same. I pushed my old clothes into a corner of my suitcase, quickly closing it and sliding it under my bed. I took the envelope Miss Darcie gave me and placed it in the inside pocket of my blazer.
"Wow, you look like one of us," Arianna mocks, "See girls, people can look like something they're not so easily."
When the girls turned to leave, I rolled my eyes and followed after them. Arianna was very bold, definitely when she decided to talk about someone right in front of her.
"School will be over in an hour, I believe we have enough time to show you around," Dove smiled.
I nodded my head, closing the door to the dorm. If I were to hang out with these girls, which I'm not, I'm sure they would be a bad influence. We walked towards the door that leads to the staircase we previously were in. The girls blabbed about something that happened in their class. I'm not sure what it was about but I didn't care to listen.
"Wait," Arianna says, "There is a group of kids you should not hang out with."
I turned towards the area where Arianna was looking, seeing a group of 3 kids laughing and minding their business. There were 2 girls and 1 boy. My eyes shifted to Dove and Raven, who were giggling about how one of the girls was too smart.
"Mind your own business, Arianna," One of the girls yelled, waving her hand like she was trying to snap someone out of a daze.
"Oh please! You know dang well no one wants to be in your business," Arianna Scorned, tossing her hair over her shoulder.
The girl just rolled her eyes and went back to talking to the other people she was with. Arianna turned towards Raven and Dove with a fake smile on her face.
"Where's your schedule?" Arianna asked me, taking her hands out.
I took my envelope out of my pocket, placing it in Arianna's hands. Arianna snatched the letter, pulling out an eggshell white paper.
"First, you have Chemistry," Arianna sighed.§•°•~•°•§
After Arianna showed me where my classes were, we headed to the dorms due to school ending. When I walked into the dorm, I saw a girl writing at her desk. It wasn't just any girl, it was one of the girls Arianna was talking bad about.
"Welcome, new dorm mate," The girl said, her eyes still on the book she was writing in.
Did she not see who I was? I sat on my bed, removing the shoes from my feet. I may look nice and all, but these were painful.
"There are five shower stalls in the restroom," The girl said, "I'm sure Arianna showed you where they were."
She did know. I took my suitcase from under my bed, placing it on top of the mattress.
"Name?" The girl asked, finally looking up at me.
I unzipped my suitcase, digging into my clean clothes.
"My name's Dakota," I responded, pulling out a pair of black leggings and a gray baggy shirt with the words 'Hey' in white font.
"Well, My name is Amira," Amira said, placing her pen in her book and closing it, "It's nice to meet you."
Amira had black wavy hair pulled into a ponytail. She had dark brown eyes that looked black without a light reflecting it. Amira was already in her pajamas, a gray t-shirt, and black shorts.
So Arianna was rude to someone nice. I took my light blue towel and my black house shoes out of my suitcase. I slid my feet into the house shoes, putting my suitcase back under my bed.
"It's nice to meet you too," I said, before walking out of the room with my towel and clothes in hand.
Instead of the hallways being awkwardly quiet, I heard girls in different rooms, seeing some walk past me every once in a while.
I walked into a restroom that didn't 'belong' to Arianna and her little squad. Unlike that restroom. This restroom was marble white and had a black frame around the mirror. The smell of strong lavender filled the room. I Walked straight into a stall with a shower, looking at my surroundings. On the door of the stall were 4 hooks and a shelf for my belongings. I placed my shoes on the shelf, and put my clothes onto the hooks.§•°•~•°•§
After I took a shower, I walked out of the bathroom drying my hair with my light blue towel. There was steam from the hot water spreading throughout the hallways. When I was by my dorm, I unlocked it to see the 2 kids who were hanging out with Amira earlier.
"She's your dorm mate?" The boy asked, sitting up in Amira's chair.
"She's the only new kid," Amira answered, looking at me and then back at the books in front of her.
"I don't think boys are allowed over here," I sighed, sitting down on my bed.
"We're having a study group," Amira responded, "And he's allowed till 8."
Amira pointed towards an analog clock on her desk, the hands to the clock at '6:43'. I looked at Amira and then turned towards the boy before rolling my eyes.
"Put your clothes in the basket next to your desk," Amira sighed, "Everyone is provided one."
I placed my towel and uniform into the empty plastic white basket.
"Guys, this girl is Dakota," Amira said as I sat on my bed, facing towards them.
I smiled for a few seconds before dropping it. The other girl smiled back, placing the book in her hands. She was the girl Dove and Raven talked about, just because the girl was smart.
"I'm Rowan," The girl smiled, "I hope you enjoy your time at this school."
Rowan had her dark brown hair pulled into a bun. Her eyes were brown. She had black glasses that sat on the bridge of her nose. Rowan wore a pink shirt with the word 'Proud' in white font.
"And I'm Victor," The guy said, sitting back in his seat.
Victor is a dark almond skin color. His eyes were dark brown. Victor had light brown curls that sat on the top of his head.
"You can join us in our studies," Rowan blurted, "If you want."
"No thanks, I would rather enjoy my time with no homework while I have a chance," I smiled, "I can ... read instead."
I took the book my mom gave me out of my suitcase. I guess I was going to read it.
